She has these silly projects/ quiz's to do every night so keep attendance and to grade you on attendance she will drop two.. I lost power a night a part of the profolio was due and she wouldn't accept it the next day saying she understood I lost power but had no proof I completed the project on time even though it had a time stamp on one-drive.

I took Ms Hillman for CSCI 104 which is meant to be an entry level gen ed class. The way she grades and the assignments given are no where near entry level. The assignments have nothing to do with what was learned in class. She grades insanely harsh and will take off points for the smallest things. On top of that, shes rude to all the students.

This class is intended to be a transition point in C++ programming and is not intended to be an easy course. This course is homework intensive and will require more time than most are willing or able to put forth. If a required course for your major, I would suggest maybe only taking 3 classes. You must understand this material to continue to 330.

DO NOT take Patricia Hillman. Despite the constant homeworks, quizzes and tests IN AN INTRO course. I tried office hours, emailing since day one. She was rude about it and hardly helped me. If you dont know computers, shes not the one.

Worst class I've ever taken! The teacher is not pleasant to be around. The homework is not graded consistently. She would give some students low grades and other students high grades with the same answers. In her rubrics they would just contradict what she would grade with.

This class was mandatory for my major(secondary math ed.) and I had previous c++ experience, but this class made me cry more often than it should have. When she knows you aren't a CSCI Major, she does not show any sympathy and goes full force. You know she's bad when you ask older CSCI majors about her and they cringe. Good luck if you have her....

WEED-OUT PRO On the first day of class, she claimed that we won't do any coding in the field, just algorithms and test plans for those that do and that coding jobs could be outsourced. The programming assignments were very hard. Even the tutors said that the programming assignments she gave out were more advanced than what we should be doing in 230

I would not recommend prof Hillman to my worst enemy. Wouldn't grade my last program because she said "this isn't your work." Even though it was. She assumes everyone is already a top programmer, so she hardly explains anything. She also expects everything you do to be perfect. Her grading is extremely unfair. AVOID AT ALL COST

She consistently fails me for assignments that I do exactly to specification. First program design? Less than 70%? Actual program that did exactly what was asked for? Less than 50%. I never got less than 90% on programs in 130, so I highly doubt that I'm all of a sudden the world's worst programmer ever. AVOID WHENEVER POSSIBLE.

If you don't create designs that are 100% how she wants them she'll give you a 60% for it. She assumes if you do designs your own way that you're an incapable programmer and have no idea what you're doing. I slept thouth CSCI130 with a 95% thank you very much.

Professor Hillman is good at explaining her lectures, but our first programming assignment was worded very poorly. It wasn't clear on what exactly she wanted; it wandered all over the place. Very difficult to write code for something you can't understand.

Read the book, do not wait until the last minute, pay attention, and put for the effort and you will do fine. If you do not understand, ask questions. You will be guided accordingly however you will not be given the answer. Her style makes you truly understand the material and you will not forget later.

I was new to Computer Science and she did not make it clear to understand nor study. Assignments are all over the place, formatting on papers (yes there are papers!) are more important than the actual writing, and the tests are rough. The lectures are straight from a word doc and the book. I hardly learned a thing except to cram for the next test.

Prof Hillman is awesome! Very easy class, and is incredibly helpful if you need anything. Highly recommend her! Open book tests, otherwise we didn't use it. Just get your assignments in on time, and you'll do great.

Shes more like an administrator than a teacher, but she is very nice and knowledgeable. Assignments were a little vague, and her grading was somewhat arbitrary. I probably wouldn't recommend her enthusiastically, but the class wasn't bad.

As the department head, she only taught one class... my 230 class. When 5 out of 30 people are PASSING, it's the teacher and not the class. Too vague about what she wants and the class suffers because of it. As a non-CS major, I couldn't handle the massive amounts information, so it may seem biased. In the end, she's a great chair, bad teacher.

Great Teacher, One of the best in Computer Science, if you have the oppurtunity to have her as a teacher DO IT! She jokes around and the class is actually fun, not like MOLNAR <--- AVOID
