I would not recommend taking this professor for this class. It's absolutely brutal. The class is all over the place. This will not benefit you in the future. It is truly pointless. I had to drop it because of his exams. If you aren't good with region then I would not recommend this class at all. My class as a whole are suffering. It's brutal.

I wanted more from this class. Just readings, write summary of readings, discussion of readings, tests on readings. Then again, death isnt an easy or fun topic to teach. Gives good examples, engaging, participation is required each week. NO late assign. Hes really funny, a fair grader. Its an easy course, but if you want a challenge, avoid.

Takes a good while to get to his point, which makes the class drag. Readings (which can be rough) are regurgitated in class, making the tests bearable. He cracks a good joke every once in a while. Papers are basic, but overall the class becomes just another boring general requirement.

Comment:
The most boring class I have ever taken, he seems to take forever to get to the point in his lectures. If he was more concise and succinct his class would've been shorter and more bearable. Synopses are not very difficult and tests aren't too bad.

Very Dry. I would recommend though as he does a great job teaching the actual material. Decent amount of HW. Readings can be tough, but he explains them. Tests are only hard because they are few questions. You may have days you want to fall asleep, so bring gum or a drink. He is pretty funny and will give you a grade you deserve.

He gives a lot of readings but they are all pretty short. You have to write a one page paper on 10 of the readings and if you complete them, you will get full credit. Attendance is not mandatory but participation is worth 15% of your grade. The midterm and final are very hard and you will need to study the readings. I would not take him again.

He is a funny guy and really is passionate about Philosophy. He writes notes on the board (sloppily) and explains everything very well. You only need to do two things to do well: contribute to the discussion and take good notes. I would highly recommend his class.

Comment:
The class itself wasn't necessarily hard, he is just a really awkward curt guy which made class uncomfortable to sit in. He grades on the check system which is how I was graded in first grade and I genuinely don't think he actually reads before grading. He is a pain to schedule time outside class to talk with and takes days-weeks to email back

Dr Mr Proffesor St Amour was a great teacher. He's an awkwardly funny guy who enjoys a good laugh but has a very strong opinion. If you try to compete, he will shut you down. Do the readings and knock the questions out early and youll be set.

I wasn't a huge fan, but the class is easy compared to other philosophy classes. Not a lot of work, but the work you do must be top quality and you must do well on it. Very boring, classes dragged on forever, but in the long-run, you'll be satisfied once you're done with philosophy.

very boring, but not hard at all.he assigns readings throughout the semester that are only about 5 pages long so not too bad. need to answer at least 7 sets of study questions from these readings. must participate in class (worth 15% of grade). 1 midterm, 1 final - both based of the readings, one 5-7 page term paper due on the last day of classes.

As a philosophy major, he wasn't anything special. But i did enjoy the class. Only homework required is doing 7 sets of study guide questions by the end of the midterm. There is a final and midterm. I totally suggest taking him if you want your standard, a little easier than most, college course.

I had Dr. St.Amour for Moral Foundations and compared to what I heard from other philosophy classes, got lucky. It's a lot of reading but as long as you read and participate you'll be fine. Two tests, a term paper and a final. None of which are bad as long as you prepare for them.

I took Dr. St. Amour for The Human Person. His class is enjoyable and interesting. He's funny and the workload isn't bad at all. I had to read a few books and had two exams and quizzes. Work hard and you will get the results you deserve. Take him!

He's really interested in what he teaches. Granted you may get bored, but in which PHL class do you not yawn?? All you have to do is participate and take notes, provides good study guides for exams. Highly recommend. Only fools will do badly.
