Comment:
This is a class where it feels like youre teaching yourself, instead of the professor teaching you. Might as well not bother emailing the professor with your questions, since your responses are either ignored or take days to respond. Save your time and Google the question instead.

If you can avoid this class do so. This is the toughest "teacher" I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. After seeing the first of three exams it quickly became clear to me that the guy is more interested, in seeing how many students he can get to either withdraw or quit, than he is in actually teaching the material.

The only professor who teaches CS2323 Online or on-campus for Fall 2015. Assigns homework rather weird. Read Chapter 2 in Unit 2, homework will be from Chapter 1, continues for most of the semester. Test are very hard, my class averaged around a 65%. Will help, provided you send a question early enough in the previous week.

Minimal interaction with students. Answers to assignments were never given. Material was extremely poor. Multiple emails went unanswered and ones that were answered took days with very little clarity to answer posed questions. This was a horrible experience for an online class. I advise skipping this if possible.

I've had a great experience having Dr. Macpherson for a professor. He does challenge us in our classes, he is fair and helpful. The grades are sometimes a little late, but I have always known where I stand in my classes with him in regards to my grade. I would take him again. He is an asset to RSU!!

Often a little too detached from online students, but he is great at troubleshooting problems with programs and provides enough help to get you back on track. In other words, he is not going to hold your hand throughout a class but will help you truly learn the material. Only complaint is he is bad about not returning grades in timely fashion.

Highly competent. Makes an effort to ensure the class understands underlying principles. Occasionally goes off on a tangent, but always interesting.

Advanced Web Systems Development (Online) - Minimal instructor participation Jan-Feb, and absolutely none from then on. Received NO feedback or assignment scores until AFTER the final in May. Graded somewhat generously due to this fact, but was still a very poor class, very badly managed.

Macpherson knows the material but has difficulty teaching it. Sometimes condescending. Tended to be poorly prepared for class/labs/tests. Slow grading/poor feedback. Not unfair but sometimes inexplicably harsh.

One of maybe two or three instructors in the IT/CSCI program that knows the material. If you want to learn something, take a class with Macpherson. If you want to copy procedures from a book, take a class with Gardner or Ronan.

Work from August graded in November. Unresponsive to student questions. Ambiguous tests, material not mentioned in class or text. Whole class bombed midterm, prof posted announcement saying how disappointed he was in US. Take at your own risk!

Comment:
Extremely unhelpful, unclear and absolutely no help when asking for assistance, explanation or clarification. If you can't learn it 100% from the book, you won't learn it in his class at all.
