He knew what he was talking about but no one else did. When the class averages are below 50% you are doing something wrong. He was a nice guy but not a good teacher. I recommend taking hayden, she's a much better teacher.

I felt like I was just trying to write really fast and at the same time learn what he was talking about. I didn't do so well. But I'm sure if you just study the book you will do fine. The final is hard, but if you understand the book's concepts I believe you will do fine.

BY FAR the BEST chemistry professor at OU! Weekly quizzes are hard but he gives practice problems exactly like the quizzes so if u do them correctly and study u should have no problems. I got a 3.4 in CHM158 and I am a C+ average lazy student so if I can do it anyone can! I would take his classes any chance I get!

This class was hard. Weekly quizes are given and the class avg is always a 50%. I would study alot and could never score higher. Would not recommend this teacher.

Worst chemistry class I've ever taken. I used to love chemistry but he is so impossible to even get a decent grade in. Besides the fact if you do bad on a couple questions on the test your going to fail. His class averages are like 40-50 percent..

Good teacher, he has an extreme curve, mostly because the class average is 40-50%! Very hard class but labs and hw account for 30% of the grade. As for being helpful, I found him to be rather rude and not approachable. He makes you feel like you're 2 inches tall. Tests are hard and I didn't think the practice exams were much like the real exam.

I wouldn't recommend taking a class with him. His lectures are extremely boring and its hard to read his writing on the board. He does problems the whole time and he doesn't like to stop for questions. I never used my notes from lecture, I had to rely on reading the book and still did bad in the class. Class average was 50% on the weekly quizzes.

I had this teacher for 157 and 158. He's by far the best chemistry teacher out there. I'd say definitely take him!! I hear Edwards is also good. For Taylor, read and UNDERSTAND the book before quizes/tests, do the online hw, and study the ACS booklet for the final and you'll be fine! I always took notes but almost never read them, only the book. :)

Best genchem teacher at oakland. He expects a lot from his students, but he is always willing to help and gives practice tests that are similar to quizzes and exams. To pass the final, order the ACS book from the ACS website. You take from his class what you put into it. I would highly recommend him

This class is a huge class of around 150 so theres basically no individual attention. Taylor is a good teacher and knows his stuff but the way he presents it sucks. He writes on the board all 2 hours and covers A LOT of material. His writing is hard to read. He assigns a lot of online homework. Tests are ridiculously hard. Quiz once a week.

Taylor's a really nice guy. He has a Ph.D. in chemistry and knows what he's teaching. Unless u've read the chapter before he lectures on it u will have no idea what he's talking about. He gives a lot of online homework. He's always willing to help though. READ the book (if u want to do well in the class) and DO his practice exams & you'll be fine.

Professor Taylor is a nice man, but his class is really boring, and he gives a lot of online homework. There are quizzes about every week, and it is difficult to consistently do well on them. I do not feel that I was adequately prepared for CHM 158, so make sure to learn the information on your own before going to the next level.

Teaches Well, but tests are excessively difficult. Class average on weekly quizzes was never greater than 60%. Exam averages were even lower. He actually tells you at the beginning of the class that his tests are hard. Also gives three times the amount of graded homework that the other professors give. Better off taking Edwards. Nice guy otherwise.

Best Chemistry professor ever met. Got a 4.0 from him. Always in the office after class for questions. Tests were walk in the park! No tricky questions in tests. Homework on the other hand is harder than the tests due to the fact that they are online. Whoever thinks that he sucks should try taking Russell's class. (Did I say they were idiots?)

He was an OK professor. He was very friendly and gave out useful practice tests/quizzes but his lectures could be hard to follow. The online homework is helpful but there was ALOT of it! It was a tough class but it's not impossible to do well in, just be prepared to work hard and remember that science classes are always challenging.

Class was hard and he wasn't the best at giving lectures. The quizzes and tests did not cover lecture materials; however, he gave adequate practice tests and great materials and the online homework helped a lot. He's also very helpful if you go to his office hours and he's very entertaining during class. I got a 4.0

Professor Taylor is very nice, very helpful. I had to make up quite a few quizzes and he was good about letting me do so. But his lectures are very incomprehensible. He does hand out practice tests before quizzes and exams, which help. There are worse profs you could take, but if you don't want to retake this course, I'd recommend someone else.

horrible. I thought i was initially good at chemistry. I agree with everyone else here he is very smart, but a horrible teacher, he doesnt have office hours (only upon appointment) so i found it very hard to ever come in for questions. Overall dissappointment as a professor. Thanks to him I now have to retake Chem 157. I would never recommend him
