Knowledgeable about the subject. However, not clear on instructions. Dont work hard on this class. Its useless. Just act and sound smart. Effort and hard work is not rewarded here. Goal post keeps changing. Keep everything in writing.

Great professor for this core class. I found the class interesting, and he knows what hes talking about. Get ready to be called on to read and to group up with people around you for small discussions once in a while, but not often. One paper, three tests. Gives a solid study guide. Do the readings, he often gives short quizzes and they arent long

Comment:
Class was boring, but definitely learned some good information. Was a little easier because of prior knowledge. Do the assigned reading because it appears on the tests. Test questions are often poorly worded which makes them more difficult than necessary. Most people just take the class because it fulfills core requirements.

There is no conceivable way to make the Old Testament interesting or engaging, but Prof. DiVito tries and he is genuinely a nice guy. Bright-side: Prof. DiVito makes three easy tests 80% of your grade, so if you want to slack off and need another Theo core this course is for you. I don't think I went to more than 10 classes and I got a B+.

He gets off topic pretty easily and he can be unclear at times. Other than those moments, not a bad professor at all. Lectures are interesting, and he opens up topics for debate occasionally. Watch out for the pop quizzes once you start reading bible chapters, and read the textbook! (He puts stuff from it on every test)

His lectures are brilliant-both thought provoking and engaging. His lectures also are based on class discussions so he's not just going off on a diatribe. His powerpoints also succinctly summarize what could be intricate material. The exams aren't "hard" provided that you really study the powerpoints. He's also very easy-going and friendly.

Great professor! Readings are important b/c it's exactly what comes up on the test. He really knows what he talks about. If you meet w/ him outside of class and get to know him, he'll want to make you succeed in his class.

One of the best scripture scholars at Loyola. He spends more time giving you his own theory of biblical formation than on giving you an overview of other theories (book was ignored) or doing exegesis. Sometimes it feels like he is just rehearsing his analysis in front of a mirror to keep it in his mind. But he is smart and answers questions well.

I love Dr. DiVito but he can be really boring. The class itself isnt hard but he goes pretty indepth with hebrew history and such. I would try to wise up to him so he will try to help you during the semester. Participation is good when you can. The tests arent easy so study hard when they show up. Easy 'B +/-'

Dr. Divito is really easy and you can get an a as long as you keep up with the readings and take notes on what he says. lectures are straight out of the books you read outside of class and lecture. straightforward and pretty interesting although he might drone on a bit just to explain one thing.

Great teacher. The first few lectures were boring but it got better. Tests and quizzes are easy if you go to class, take notes, and read what he assigns. Really knows what he's talking about, and willing to work with you to help you understand. Class is much more interesting if you participate

A LOT of reading. Most questions on the exam come from the textbook. Avoid the first row because he tends to walk around alot, swinging his arms and spitting.

Divito is very knowledgable. Most of the time he lectures in front of the class for the whole period. Tests are multiple choice and matching, and the essay questions ask you to show how much info you remember from the lectures. He does not want to trick you and he gives you a good idea of what is going to be on the test. He is also kind & helpful.

Such a nice and caring guy! Really knowledgeable about the subject, but his lectures can sometime get boring because all he does is stand in front of the class and talk. Still class is really interesting and he's really fair on tests and grading!

Do not take as a core class. You should not need to exert this much effort in THEO 111 when you're taking 4 300 lvl major classes.

He is very smart in his subject, but sometimes forgets that you might not be. Tests are 8 pgs long with obscure material on them. Lectures are smart but far from thought provoking.

If you are interested in religion at all, you will be interested in him. He has a lot to say and much of it is very interesting. I learned a lot in this class. Just push until the end... all he does is lecture but if you come interested and energized, it an easy class. Nothing on his tests are things he never said. good professor!!!
