Randy is a great person in the art department. Talk to him and he will tell you stories. Don't talk to him, and he'll find a reason to talk to you. Make sure not to skip class because he will be able to tell and that will affect your grade. Listen during class too by taking notes because he hates repeating himself.

I've had Randy twice (print & sculpture) and he's by far the best art instructor I've had at Cal. Lets you do you own thing, but will provide input if asked. Don't slack off in his studios though. Very knowledgeable about printmaking which can sometimes make him stickler for doing things the "correct" way. Amazing guy - take his studios.

randy is very knowledgeable about printmaking and fine art. down side to his advanced class is there are no mandatory meetings with him. consequently it becomes the students responsibility to contact the prof. great input in critiques, yet would have liked the input throughout the semester, even a weekly check in. no direction given.
