Comment:

I really enjoyed learning from Dr. Willey. He really gave me a wake up call and let me know that my writing had more potential than what I had previously written in the past. He makes you work for a good grade, but when you receive it, all the hard work is well worth it and you feel great. I came out of this class a better writer.

Quizzes started off easy and got VERY hard. Extremely tough and unfair grader, graded on whether or not he thought the story was creative, and not on effort (in a creative writing class.) Would NOT TAKE AGAIN.

Awesome teacher. I had him for Comp 1 & chose to have him again for Comp 2 because his teaching method really grew on me. He is a tough grader, but if you put in the effort then he's simply there to make you a better writer. Not the class to do your papers the night before, he'll know super respectful and great sense of humor. Go for it!

I took him for Comp 2 and he very much leaves you to your own accord, I thought I was a decent enough writer but so far every paper I have written I have needed help to start just because he doesn't really clarify what he wants out of the paper. So make sure that you are able to write indepentdely with little help.

Dr. Wiley is kind of intimidating at first. At the beginning of the semester he constantly threatens to fail you if you don't use proper grammar or punctuation. That is true. Know those things. Every story he tells has a purpose, be patient. As long as you show up, read the essays he gives you and write decent papers you'll do fine.

If you are interested in ENG I suggest him. If you are taking it for a gen ed do not take him. He is a really tough grader, gives a lot of long readings. if you want an A you must work really hard at it. Nice guy, he is a hippie and his stories are interesting but doesn't teach you much about writing.

I did not enjoy this class AT ALL. I think he wishes he was teaching graduate level students, because he grades that way. He needs to teach more about HOW to write and talk less about himself, as this is only an intro class. He does try to relate to his students. I would only rec him to students who KNOW for a fact they are REALLY good writers.

I did not like the way he graded essays. 1st draft was peer edited in a group, 2nd draft was submitted to him (ONLY for corrections NO feedback), and the final essays are not even checked over by him until submitted into the final portfolio. The final portfolio contains all of the essays. I did not find it easy or fair. Other than that, he's nice.

Not a good teacher. I haven't learned one writing technique in my composition I class from him. He doesn't grade your writing until the final portfolio which is unfair conisidering he doesn't even give us the criteria for an A paper in his eyes. I don't like his grading strategy which is why I chose a different prof for composition II

This guy is great... helpful, fair, and a wealth of knowledge and experiences. It boggles the mind to see people complaining because he expects you to show up and read the material. Seriously, people? Be grateful you only have to read two books a semester... some universities require two books A WEEK.

Here's the deal. Dr. Willey is a nice guy. That being said, this class turned into less creative and more insanely hard quizzes and MANDATORY attendance. I had fun during the weeks we read our assignments to others. I enjoyed watching the 10 minute plays. I found the him very likeable. There just wasn't enough writing to make me happy.

Awesome interesting person; he's a hippie who's been everywhere and done everything. As a teacher, though, he has irritating, nit-picky habits. For example: all of our work, including NOTES on the text was required to be typed, but would only be collected randomly. He knows his stuff, but I would not take another class from him.

do not take this teacher... He is a very big stickler on ateendance too and you can't be a second late, even if there is a big snow storm, and you will get marked down. He is also a health freak and he will cough on your food if he thinks it is bad for you. Overall it was a very easy class though, just didn't like the teacher

I like dr.willey. He has a different personality and not afarid to say what the f**k. This class was like he was scaring us to hand in our papers, study study study and expects you to get an easy A. Im taking more that his class and there was just too much busy work. This was definately not my favorite class, dragged on big time at the end
