Comment:

He gives an excessive amount of homework and provides minimal to no direction on how to do assignments. He also has no regard to the fact that he's not the only class you take and quizzes are ridiculously hard. Only take this class if you have a decent amount of prior knowledge for the class which is crazy considering this is an intro course.

Do not take. I could not be more sympathetic for the people who have to take him. I took him for intro to engineering. In high school I took AP Physics and passed with a 98 and yet I barely passed his class. He is very rude and doesn't care if you don't get the material. I asked a question and his reply was that he can't help me.

Comment:

Acted willing to help the very first day and completely changed after that. Gave weekly homework that was nearly impossible, acted as though everyone other than himself was idiotic, hated questions but would get furious when no one could answer his, etc. I went from a 4.0 student to having to drop his class.

By far one of the worst professors I've ever had at UTC. He gets angry when students don't know the answer to his insanely hard questions. He assumes everyone is not intelligent, so if you make a good grade on something he will accuse you of cheating. Thinks he is smart but really isn't. AVOID

Teaches only theory and expects students to be already knowledgeable in advanced dynamics. 50% of grade is homework that takes between 6 and 10 hours per week alone. Professor is completely ignorant to the fact that his is not the only class students are taking. Gets frustrated with students struggling to learn the material. Flexible deadlines tho.

Knows his stuff but very condescending. Performs unnecessary integrations just to show he knows how. HIGHLY recommend getting a Chegg account because homeworks are near impossible. If you're a girl in the class... good luck.

I learned more in his Material Science class than I have any other class so far. He made the material interesting, can explain complex concepts in easy to understand language. He is a hard grader. He expects you to work hard, as you should as an engineering student. He is very helpful in his office hours if he knows you are trying.

I had him for two classes in one semester. I am graduating this semester, and have had most of the professors in CECS. He is by far the worst. It is obvious he hates teaching, as all questions are unwelcome. When I went to him for help, he suggested I flip hamburgers instead of staying in school. I am graduating in spite of him. He should retire.

By far one of the worst teacher I have ever had. Lectures were confusing and he could not communicate the material well. Has a massive ego that gets in the way of anything and everything. He is arrogant and dismissive of questions. Not better during office hours. Will talk down to you. Do not take!

Dr. Goulet taught the material very clearly and always kept my attention. His lectures were fascinating and the material intriguing. The material was hard and he is a tough grader, but he gives 50% partial credit for trying and gives half credit back for corrections so its hard to fail this class if you work hard.

Dr. Goulet is the best engineering professor I've had so far. Tests are online and easy, and Assignments are kind hard but you really do learn a lot from him. Presents material clearly, very helpful

Dr. Goulet is an interesting teacher. He's very intelligent and is decent at explaining concepts. I admire is enthusiasm in teaching, but his grading is ridiculous. Tests were online and unable to show work, which means you could get a 50, a 75, or 100. He does allow corrections for half credit. Take if you're willing to work really, really hard.

Obviously very knowledgeable about engineering, however, his arrogance and dismissiveness means he is an extremely poor teacher. Somewhere along the line, he forgot that he was teaching students that are in the process of learning. Because of that he is frustrated by questions from anyone that is struggling. Regret taking is class.

Very difficult teacher, but if he feels you're trying, he's very willing to help. His lectures are very interesting, and it's obvious he knows the material. His class takes a lot of time, but you definitely learn the material. Don't take it in your last semester though because senioritis and this class don't get along!
