Definitely you have to work HARD on his class. He gives you specific examples on the homework that will be on the 4 exams (graded in a point scales not percentage). Recommend outside resources

I found his accent very difficult to understand. He teaches straight from the book and goes too quickly. When I would ask him questions it took multiple times for me to explain myself because he had difficulty understanding me. (I've had many other teachers with accents and I've never had this problem). Do not take Geometry 432 with him.

Weekly quizzes verbatim from HW; HW not collected. Likes to focus on proofs during lecture, but exams and HW are mostly computational. Punctuates his lectures with philosophical nuggets of wisdom which are quite enjoyable. Amiable and helpful during office hours. Nothing too difficult or tricky in his class, he just wants you to do well.

Dr. Yang is a good teacher. He has an accent but it is not too hard to understand. If you have the ability to take his math class, I would recommend it, he is avery good teacher.

You WILL learn Linear Better than with any other professor, just expect to work for the A, those weekly quizzes are gonna hurt. Make sure you actually do the HW, even just 1 or two questions from a set, or else you will fail every quiz.

Hard class, great teacher. If you are having problems office hours are key as and MIT open course Gilbert Strange lectures will help with understanding the textbook. Wants students to do well, there was a 14pt curve on the first exam, but also wants to make sure they understand the material. So you need to work for an A.

This class went well. Overall I feel that I was able to understand the mathematics we went over in this class. Everything from complex numbers to Euler's equation. Instead of HW he assigned weekly quizzes and I think overall that may have hurt my grade. Sometimes it was easy to miss the HW put on the board at the very end of the lecture.

Prof. Yang's lectures aren't great, but he honestly cares about students' success and your understanding of the material, so he explains stuff amazingly one on one at office hours. Really nice guy, I'd have no problem taking another class w him.

Rongwei is a great teacher with terrible grading skills. The average on the midterm was below a 60%; when asked what a 'B' grade would be, he responded with '89'. He's the only professor I've met who will not curve a single point. This means out of a class of over 40 students , perhaps 2 received a grade good enough to get into grad school.

He explains everything way easier than the textbook does. Thoroughly cover materials(Even Applications), which is helpful later. Very willing to help students to excel in course. As long as you do homework, everything will be easy. Has an accent, but totally understandable. And he goes in a moderate speed, which is also helpful.

He is a very good teacher. He doesn't use webassign, so this calss is cheaper. As long as you do the asssigned homework before the quiz, you will do fine. The class may be a little fast but it's fun to be chanlanging. He went through hw right before the quiz, which is super helful. Also, he's funny and explains material pretty well.

Professor Yang is a great teacher, I really don't understand where everybody else is coming from. His accent is clear and you can understand him, he convey's the material very well, and he gives out extra credit often. True, the course material is difficult, but go to his office hours or e-mail him and he will give you a very detailed answer.

Best teacher I've had at SUNY Albany yet. Excellent at conveying the material in lectures but since there is a lot of material you have to go to his office hours to make sure you understand the homework. Weekly quizzes are basically homework questions. The midterm was difficult but he gave the opportunity to earn half credit on anything you missed.

His English is clear & understandable, but he is an awful teacher. His definition of teaching is copying exactly what the textbook says and writing it on the board. Doesn't go over in class what is actually on quizzes. A very tough grader-takes off a lot for small errors. Offers very few grades, so midterm + final combined are worth 70% of grade.

Thick accent, very hard to understand at times. Somewhat of a liability, given the difficulty of the material taught. Otherwise very helpful, especially out of class.

He is a great teacher with a love for the subject. The subject matter can be difficult, but he is happy to take questions in and out of class. I don't think he is that difficult to understand despite his accent. His quizzes and tests are all questions you've done in class or homework. Just do the homework and ask questions!

Don't take this professor. He is terrible. So far I had all A's in math classess untill now. I will get B or C but this guy is terible. He shouldn't teach any class. He is no clear and he doesn't care about students. I spent lots of time lerning on my own. If you dont like/want learn on your own don't take this class. You will hate him
