Prof. Hawkins is one of the best professors to ever step foot on the UCF campus. She teaches with a passion and goes above and beyond to make sure her students get the most out of the class. I hate that she decided to retire, because I would've loved to recommend her to others. But I am more than happy that I was apart of the last class she taught.

EASY CLASS.The tests come straight from the information on her slides.Once a week class, we spent about 4 classes just watching movies (most were pretty interesting). Grade consists of: 2 tests and an EASY presentation or paper at the end. OH and she does a mini review RIGHT before the test is handed out. 80% of the answers are there.

This prof. is an eco-activist and has some pretty crazy views on economics, politics, and, of course, the environment. She usually didn't end up giving a lecture because she was to busy ranting about the Gulf oil spill or "non-human animals." Definitely not an enjoyable class.

this is an easy A. her tests are on exactly what is discussed in class and there's one short essay due at the end of the semester. she gets off topic a lot, but i like what she has to say. most people, however, are offended by her comments on america and the environment. she means well.

Some people are thinkers and some are do-ers. If you are a thinker and you like philosphy, you will love this class. If you are a do-er it will drive you crazy! If you dont know which one you are - you will quickly find out!

I can't understand the bad reviews for Dr. Hawkins. She is incredibly smart and inspiring. Her classes are easy and I have learned a lot. I respect Dr Hawkins and found the comments out of line; they don't represent my experience nor some of my friends'.

We would make a counter in class and mark it each time she used one of the expressions "non-living lumps of matter" or "billiard balls" it was funny because every class we would get from 10-20 hits. She belongs in the "new age" section of the bookstore and not teaching an important class to impressionable youths.

Garbage teacher in my opinion. Class is more of an open forum for controversial/liberal beliefs than place for learning. All she does is preach and get off topic. Wouldnt be so bad if she objectively taught all sides of the issues, but she dismisses rational arguments offhand and teaches controversial stuff like its fact. 2 favorite expressions

I found the subject material fascinating, Hawkins clearly has passion but is not the best teacher, she gets off on incoherent rambling that is WAY off from original topic. This translates to interesting discussion an thought, but hard tests - an easy B if you read, go to class, and listen - if you don't go to class, forget about it you're done

If you are a male you should probably just walk away now. She is a feminist who has a deep seeded hatred for men. I once walked into class and she had drawn a phallus on the board and drew a huge line through it...That's a male private part for those that don't know. She's insane.

She is a great professor. Often gets off topic (loves to rant about the environment) but it's ok because she doesn't expect you to know things that you don't talk about in class. Her tests are extremely fair and the writing assignments aren't difficult. You just have to use proper grammar but really, everyone should be doing that anyways.

This instructor is so often misunderstood. If you are a person who is incapable of free thought then she is not for you. If you have an interest in the world at large then she is for you. She is always discussing currents events and relating them to the material. It certainly adds interest to the class. Her tests are concise so be sure to read!!!!

Read the books and you'll be okay. Watch out if you turn in any written assignments, be will blast you away with critisim, and make sure that your subject matter is sided in her view.

She's a very knowledgable teacher, and very liberal. However she has it in her head that students don't use enough of their "right brain" and so her class is constructed as such so that she bombards you with a bunch of information (often irrelevant to the test) and you are responsible for "piecing the information together"...not the best class...

Her classes are a joke. Easy to get an A in, but you'll have to endure her charged/hostile rantings to get through the semester. Can't stick to a schedule, and she'll get off topic for up to days at a time. Yes she has some good things to say, but you have to sift through crap to find the gems; she's why nobody takes environmental issues seriously.

If you go to class and read what she asks you to read you can and should get an A. She doesn't try and trick you on test, rather she is looking to see if you were in class, read what you should have read and understand what you read. She will say whats on her mind but if you listen she will get you to think! I think she is a breath of fresh air.
