Comment:

She is a great lecturer, but she gives way too many papers, especially for a second-year class. She chooses favourites. Is a difficult grader, almost soul-crushingly difficult. I would never take a course with her again. Seems like a nice person, but her class just made me hate English, and it's my minor.

While she was engaging and clearly very passionate, I found if you had a different opinion or perception of the text, she was completely dismissive. She is not the be all, end all of Shakespeare's writings. It's meant to be explored and re-examined. She is very helpful though, I'll give her that. Goes out of her way to help.

I did not enjoy her class. Shannon speaks to students on a level that conveys rudeness and as if we are children. She posses a quality that screams she is superior to you. She is an extremely tough marker. There is no expection whatsoever if things are cited incorrectly, it is an automatic 0. Would not recommend. Would not take again.

Really didn't enjoy Shannon as a professor and would not take a course with her again. I found her marking of essays was tough considering this was a second year course. Lectures weren't quite on topic with the literature we were meant to be discussing so even though she took attendance, I didn't get much from the lectures.

Each class involves group discussions, so if you're antisocial like myself this can be awkward. One major group project. Her lectures involve a lot of convoluted speech, but don't provide much insight into the readings. She definitely has a passion for literature, I'll give her that. Don't bring your phone out in class, she WILL single you out.

Shannon is such a pleasure. Her lectures are wonderful and she wants to see each of her students improve and grow throughout her course. I highly recommend taking at least one course with her. You certainly won't regret it!!!

Shannon is an incredible professor who goes out of her way to help you if you commit to your work. She will answer your questions and make your life easier as long as you give it in return. Very fair and passionate about what she's teaching and it shows in her everyday lectures. This isn't my first class; won't be my last either :-)

I would definitely recommend English 358 with Dr. Murray. This class is discussion-based and requires active participation to do well, so only take it if you're ready to commit to being in class. If you put the time into it, this class can be very rewarding

Everyone at UPEI should take a course from her, English student or not. She makes even Medieval and Renaissance literature fascinating, and she's always available for extra help. I was just 17 when I took 358, but she personally guided me through some of the unfamiliar steps so in the end I earned an A+. She makes anyone love literature.

She loves Shakespeare. She said she'd teach this course even if she weren't paid! Very organized, willing to help, and always trying to find a new way to make Shakespeare seem less harder. No other profs can teach Shakespere better than her!
