Comment:

Sharon's class was beyond simplistic. There was good potential for an excellent theory class, but whenever we bumped up against anything remotely difficult, we skipped over it because a bunch of whiney Sociology students who haven't read anything of substance complained. Sharon is great, but was too lenient with the bottom denominator.

I found Sharon to be a bit pompous as she put on Engligh airs. I found her teaching style very boring.

She was unfair. Its her way or no way. Do not oppose her. If you take the wrong argument on a paper this will continually affect you all semester. Needs to be more opinion to others opinions at the university level. Would highly recommend avoiding her as prof.

This class is very difficult, but Sharon teaches it in a way that makes it possible to understand. She genuinely cares about her students and is friendly/personable. Be warned however, personal boundaries may be crossed in this class and a willingness to think outside the box is required.

She actually seems to care how well we understand the content. She does seem a little pretentious at times, with her on again off again accent, and her way of making what is not an overly difficult concept- over theorized and complicated. She was straight forward in her expectations but it was TAs (x6) marking everything.

Good Prof. I think she makes the course material harder and more indepth then is necessary. Also, be prepared to READ! She gives a course pack + a book to read. Tutorials were a drag. She grades pretty easily though.

I have taken several classes with Sharon, and I find her to be an EXCELLENT prof. She is helpful, challenges her students (which by the way is the point of postsecondary education, no?), and teaches in an interesting manner. One of the best profs in the soc department in my opinion.

I'd encourage people to try this prof.I really liked what she taught.Though I can understand students that claim she nit picked too much for undergrad level. But that's a very small factor, and I liked the prof and the course very much. And if you're into the subject matter, you'll love her course.

Dr.R is indeed a bit obnox, but I got over that fast (though couldn't help but roll my eyes internally @ times).But she teaches a FANTASTIC course.She gives us great stuff to read.Its true, has specific answers in mind But just talk 2 her about what she wants beforehand; PROBLEM SOLVED! v. helpful!

HELLO people, feminism is a contemporary paradigm in sociology, & Sharon's never made an issue of her pedigree OR her sexuality. This prof is fabulous and funny and was extremely even handed even to students who say bigoted things. She's gone out of her way to help folks who don't "get it" as fast.

Sharon is obnoxious.Thankfully, her excellent course content totally makes up for that.REALLY enjoyed her class, inspite of her self-important flakiness.She is VERY specific about assignment answers, so talk to her about them beforehand. ALSO choose to do ESSAY instead of final EXAM if possible.
