This class will kick your behind, but if you put in the effort and go to office hours, you'll come out a MUCH better writer and thinker. Attend lecture (she boosts grades for people who show up regularly) and meet with her before you write the papers. She is a TOUGH grader. There's a lot of reading, but you can skimp a bit if you attend class.

Political Philosophy with Prof. Svavarsdottir was pretty good. With whatever new topics were being discussed, there was always debate and any message on the topics were conveyed with clarity. The grade in the class consisted on two-four page essays and two exams. You need to read your book to understand thoroughly the arguments.

Not as bad as it seems. Tough for an intro course, but if you go to class/recitation she explains a lot and gives good examples. The only bad thing about this class were the other students who wouldn't shut up and let her explain!

Lectures are extremely dry and boring. They are based straight from the book. Doesn't explain material too well. The class is required for the major but find another professor to take it with.

Good Teacher, very helpful if you take advantage of office hours, lectures are boring, but attending them is very helpful, Don't think this class should be a intro course though!

I thought that she was an approachableand nice teacher. The material in the class is quite dense, but you don't need to read if you pay attention in class. However, that is much more difficult than it sounds because her lectures are very dry. We had to write four 3-page papers, but the grading of them is completely unpredicable.

A very nice and enjoyable lady, who is willing to go out of her way to help students, but soothing persona makes class a bit boring. Overall I learnt the material and would recommend her as a professor.

Okay, I did pull an A-, but I have no idea how! The materal is wayyy too hard for a 100-level class taken by mostly first-quarter freshmen. She was out of town before both exams, so no help there. The material was hard, the lectures weren't much help, and the TA's were just as confused as us...don't recommend!

very hard to understand. but despite that and her long lectures and threat that the TA's grade hard... I somehow passed with a B even though I slept through all the lectures. You'll be learning, but not realizing it!
