Comment:

Her class consisted of readings, charts, and videos. I didn't like the videos because they were too fast and I found myself pausing after every five seconds to take notes. The book is a bit boring and there are one or two chapters where the reading was too much. Your grade depends on six quizzes but you do have extra credit opportunities.

This class was compressed into a 6 week summer course and it is too much information to know everything and take her tests without a little help. He lectures vaguely cover anything on the tests, instead refer to her charts, which literally have all the answers. sometimes you have to read +100pgs in a week for a test. I passed without the text.

Comment:

There's a love/hate relationship with Thelma. She does want her students to succeed, but in a strange way. She can be very intimidating and overwhelming at times, but I've been told that her attitude is similar to that of bosses in the industry, so it'll prepare you for that. I can't recommend her, but I can't discourage against her either.

She is awesome! Knows what she's doing, listen to her even if you don't like what she's saying. She can be tough but try your hardest and you'll get somewhere. She is totally there for the students and willing to help you out.

She will tell you NO but do not listen. It is your job to be as CREATIVE as possible in this class. So when she says you can't do something she really means she wants you to FIND A WAY. Don't expect an A. Study for the tests by reading Zettyl. But most importantly do all parts for your studio show. if you miss any you get big time grade deductions.

Thelma is someone that you will run into in the industry so DEAL WITH IT!!! She is one of the greatest and knowledgable professors here. She's going to push you and test you- don't get discouraged you need her to make it in the industry-others are 10 times worst. Let her know that you understand things and ask for help- you'll be liked!!!

I took Thelma's class in the winter. She is very smart and helpful. I wish I could take another class with her! It would be totally worth it. She's a great person. Highly recommended!

440 with her in the winter was the easiest class I've ever taken in college...EVER! , 2 scripts you analyze (your own interpretation, so not hard), 2 EASY class presentations, 1 scene you direct yourself, 2 EASY tests and that's it. Sounds like a lot, but did I mention they were all EASY? If you can take this class in the winter, do it, an easy A!

She's cool, but she rubbed me the wrong way in the beggining. One on one she is real cool. You just have to work and think in her class and don't be afraid to be called out, cause she'll do it. If you can handle that, you should be fine. Learn from her.

Thelma likes to say no and you can't do that and that will never work. All she wants you to do is prove her wrong. If you do that, then you are succeeding. Anyone who thinks she is "too hard" is a wimp. No one holds your hand in the industry.

I almost didn't graduate because of her. She can be a heartless woman. We worked our butts off in her class and gave all of us low scores. She ended up changing them but she was almost brought up to the CTVA department for her lack of fairness.
