Symbolic Logic is plain hard and ridiculous. STICK TO EASY MATH! Really approachable and nice professor, but the material is hard to grasp. You really need to practice the material to keep up. 1st day of class would be review of homework and anything you had problems with. 2nd day is all new material. Don't really know when to use this EVER -.-

I LOVE MR. GRAVES!!! He is an amazing teacher. He always shares his funny stories form his life's journeys that help to make sense of the reading. He is very passionate about philosophy. If you are having a difficult time keeping up, I believe it is up to you to fix that. I organized study groups and we all did much better. Go to office hours!

If you just want to fullfill your GE course, please keep it away because it is hard. His grade is diveded by three parts: quiz, exam and participation. If you were quiet person, thinking seriouly as he will give a low grade if you dont talk and ask question in the class even got a high grade in the exam.

Awful time in 12A. Material is hard, class moves fast. Each week theres new material & I couldnt keep up. Doesnt care if students understand material before moving on. Doesnt teach material until after hw is due, you are on your own. Never missed a class or exam, even went to study groups & failed. Broke my heart bc I tried so hard. Total waste :(

i took 12a and 4 with him. the 12a was very clear and fun-- the 4 was a little boring and repetitive- but still ok. he is a very nice and understanding teacher, and very smart-- but a little absent minded, and often late. good teacher, overall

He is a really nice teacher! The material is hard if you don't study, practice or if you don't memorize the forms. For this class set time apart to DEDICATE to applying what you learn! You are tested every other week but its ok because there is no final! He is easy to talk to and he is always willing to spend time with you if you need help!He is fun

Sheep in Wolves clothing. Comes off as a hard ass at first and turns into a bunny rabbit a few weeks in. Not a lot of work either just keep up with the reading and participate in class. Very smart and funny guy.

Mr Graves is a very wise and knowledgeable teacher who really tries to challenge your preconceptions. He can drone, but he is funny and has a lot of surprisingly relevant personal stories. He tests you on your understanding of the readings and the concepts discussed in class. if you dont like extensive intellectual discourse he is not for you.

Don't let his kind demeanor as a professor deceive you. I found him to be a terrible at lecture, forgetful and straight up scatterbrain. Wastes at least 1/2 class period doing hw problems. Doesn't even correct student's hw-- only corrects tests/quizzes & never returns it in a timely manner. If you want to do good in this class, memorize the book!

Smart guy. Not a great teacher. Monotonous voice in a rather deep subject can lose the attention fast. Harsh grader. He uses the thumbs up/thumbs down method. So for an 'A' do the work and understand the topics, suck up, and be a push-over.

My favorite professor, easily. This man is very wise, humble, and interested in engaging everyone. Previously took him for Phil 2 & 4. The 12A was much more work, then the others, but he is persistent in making sure everyone gets it. Symbolic logic is a heavy subject but he made it very easy to grasp. I really wish he taught more classes.

Best teacher I have ever taken. Really nice and knows his stuff. Will always try to clear up stuff and answer Qs. Goes over homework after collecting it. DEFINITELY visit his office hours if you need help. Go to class and pay attention and you'll do fine. Read the book as well. Allows makeup tests if you are absent on quiz/test day. RECOMMENDED

Nice guy. But not a good teacher. forgets to teach all material. does not explain things well. forgetful of what he has taught. way too much homework! too difficult of tests. but, his lectures are extremely difficult to follow, missing specific details on material that he should tell the class. runs out of time too often and does not teach so

The discussions in this class can get really interesting. He only has quizzes/tests and it's really hard to get points. If you don't contribute you will treated like you're invisible. The topics are not the easiest, so I can understand why some students do not want to begin talking about it. It seems you are only valid if you hold strong opinions.
