Professor Riley is a really nice guy, but this class was definitely a little trickier than some people probably expected. You really have to study to do well on the exams, however if you put in the work you'll be fine.

This professor is not for fragile people who cannot handle anything. Not only that, but sometimes the class content was difficult to understand even after I had utilized resources and studied. Be prepared to grow a thick skin he has and continues to make students cry! This review is not meant to be negative.

Easy class if you pay attention and take notes. I didn't buy the active listening guide, I just wrote everything down and did well on the tests. However, the class is extremely boring and sometimes really confusing if you've never analyzed music or played an instrument.

- Only grades you for 3 test and one concert report - about 80 people in the one lecture hall - unless you like music or know music don't take - I came to every class, took notes and payed attention and still did poorly.

It was easy for me because I played piano for 7 years. The tests are pretty easy if you actually took notes and listened in class! He gives you a term paper on concerts you have to go too and he takes attendance there too.

Hes a really nice professor who doesn't ask for much. You literally just sit in class, listen to what he says and the music he plays, along with some notes. It was a pretty easy class. He is also very passionate about music which makes the class a bit better. Sometimes he even plays for the class. I def recommend him !He's easy, nice, and you learn

If you want to learn about music and are not just looking for an easy grade, DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. The listening questions he gives on tests and in class would make a musician sick. The questions normally have 2 or 3 correct answers but only 1 is "correct", OR none of the answers are actually correct. He single-handedly pushes kids away from music

Great professor. Obviously loves what he teaches and teaches it well. Tests are easy and based off of notes and based off of the cd part of the book. Exams are half listening and half questions-all multiple choice. Has in class concerts which can be used for the concert report. And adorable! :)

His Music 101 course is an easy A. Riley is a great guy and makes things interesting most of the time (of course, the class can get boring at times). Buy the book for the CDs it comes with. If you study off of the listening guides, you will ace the exams. Reading is not entirely necessary as long as you go to class and takes notes.

If you are a music student he will love you, if not you will be talked down to. If he sees you arriving late or catches you texting during concert days he will lose it.
