Comment:

Professor Filewod felt less like a prof than a mentor and colleague. He was so knowledgeable, caring and passionate about Canadian theatre, and his students at all levels. He truly cares about the local theatre community, and more than any other prof I ever had was there to listen & help. His retirement is a true loss to the students of U of G.

Comment:

Another very caring THST professor. Really sad that he is retired - he was one of the only profs I ever met to try and set you up for when you're done by introducing you to people you could make connections with outside of the University - people who have already made it. He was absolutely amazing, and so helpful. Best wishes to Alan in retirement!

Comment:

Alan Filewod is a great teacher. He gets really into the information that he is presenting. The lectures are repetitive but interesting, and truthfully you don't really need to go to class to do well on assignments. He seems to be a pretty easy marker! Just be creative in your assignment and ask for clarification if his direction are confusing!

Best Prof I had in my 4 years! He makes every class interesting, he treats you like fellow theatre historians not students, and it's mind blowing how much he knows about theatre. His Political Intervention Theatre class changed the way I look at the world, not just theatre...Take a class with him before you leave Guelph!!

Obviously Filewod is fantastic. He doesn't even make you hand anything in until the last day; with NO late marks. But anyway, he's just the nicest guy in the world and obviously brilliant. He toured with the Mummers theatre troupe; and if you get a chance to hear him come talk about it; do it.

Professor Filewod was a wonderful person. I was blown away when I took theatre history in his class. He was always helpful and thorughly knowledgable in the subject matter. I am a graduate of 03 but I wanted to check things out and give props where they are needed.

THIS PROF IS AMAZING! The best prof I've ever had. Always willing to help and always there when you need him. Understands personal matters, and is easy to connect with.
