Lets start by saying he's a brilliant chemist. He may be a brilliant teacher in Russian, but he misses in English. He goes off on tangents during lectures. I was fortunate enough to have never needed help w/ a class. That changed this last semester, I lived in tutoring. You'll def know chem though! Good man, good heart, and good luck! #1car4wheels

my expireince wasn't too bad, what I recommend is reading and comprehending every chapter. He's way of teaching is confusing but I attended class to see what was going to be on test. I taught myself, go to all the labs and prepare for eveything and anything on tests and quizzes. In the end he cares and wants you to pass. But not and easy class.

This class is not for the ones who expect an easy A. You have to work hard, study hard and have a passion for the subject since it is not an easy subject to begin with. Prof Sobolevskiy can be a little intimidating and tough but depending on your personality this may be what pushes you to do your best. Reading the book and HW are essential to learn

Proffessor Russia is an inspirational man. When I got a 0 on my quiz he told me "you must first learn to fail before you can succeed" he then graciously knocked his ring on his desk and told me to leave. For his lab final we had to dilute a clear "liquid" and he had to "chek" it by tasting it. He spit my solution in my face and said i got an A 3

At first, he seems arrogant and mean--but its just his tactic to instill some ground rules. Do all homework & the quizzes and test will be easy. score high in the first 5 quizzes because the rest will get a bit difficult. He will help you if you ask. I was failing his class and ended up getting a C. He wants everyone to know the subject & pass.

I got an A. This is how: Read every chapter (learned 100% of the material this way) and did all the odd chapter problems including the cumulative and challenge problems. I missed about 1/3 of all lecture classes but attended most labs. The highest quiz grade I received was a 60%. Test grades are what matter. I made lots of note cards. Love chem.

professor was extremely helpful I took him for a Saturday.Lab practical was the titration lab you're allowed to go back and look at the formulas used in the manual.Sends out a prequiz before exams , exams have extra credit & gives 2 separate quizzes open note, & computer that gave up to 8 points in extra credit of your overall grade .

People what do you expect when you are coming to college??? This is not high school! Do not expect free time and sleep in the classroom! This course is hard and you have to work on it! The professor is good and knowledgeable, yes, his teaching style is different, but he is always willing to help his students!

Try your best to score high on the 1st 5 quizzes, because those after that would be hardest. He expects you to know the basic of chemistry and he loves stoichiometry. Study his quizzes and study guides for the tests. Lab practical questions coming from the prelab. His take home test is hard, but use google; and it's counted as extra credit

He is very fair and he tries to help sometimes, the quizzes are the exams, study the quizzes and read the chapter. Also always solve the homework problems. He drops one grade but he doesn't tell you that till the end of the semester. If you are not willing to study and learn new things then don't take him. But I think he was an okayish teacher.

Nice guy, arrogant, mostly helpful but AVOID. Accent but easy to understand. Problems - he solves chem equations using methods not in the homework, no office hours for help, teaches the simple (what you can get reading the book yourself) in boring lectures then expects you to figure out the more difficult surprises he puts on the tests & quizzes.

NEVER TAKE THIS TEACHER!! all the comments about he being rude ARE TRUE! He talks to you as if he's better then you. He makes you feel as though you're a piece of crap! He doesn't teach the class good at all. You practically have to teach yourself and do your own learning for this class.Oh P.S. if you rented a book for this class, you're out of gas

It seems to me those of you who do not place positive posts must have not worked hard. The professor is extremely fair and accomodating. You have to study and put some effort into studying. I will agree, his accent is a little tough at first, but gets easier with time. Highly recommend his class, as you will actually learn something!

I enjoyed him. He seemed really strict at first (especially for a saturday class) but he eased up. I think he was trying to weed out the "weaklings"...lol.. I WISH my other professors were like him. I ended up with a B. He forces you to learn..won't just give you the answer.

Anatoliy let me skip class when I told him I study from the book, even though class is considered manditory. If he sees you are a determined student, he will love to help you. The homework questions are on the test. This is true. He likes to help students who want to learn. I managed to pull an A. There is no A+, B+, and so on. The Highest is A.

I have never had such a bad professor in my life!! What ever you do, do not I repeat do not take his class. He does not know how to teach and is not willing to learn. Extremely rude, very arrogant, and when a student ask for explanation, he does not know how to relate the information. Loves to use analogies, more of a historian then a teacher.
