Inconsistent marker. Not able to stick with her lesson plan when students lead the conversation. Clearly new to teaching. As someone else described, doing some online research helped explain readings better than she could. Good thing she's no longer there.

BEST BEST BEST english teacher I have ever had so far. Not a hard marker and as long as you try you'll get what you deserve. She's a teacher that really shows that she loves to teach and wants to teach...has some humor...

Carmen rocks! English sucks, but she makes it suck a whole lot less. She is intelligent, witty and fun to be lectured by; probably cause she’s so passionate about what she is teaching. Her assignments are interesting and material for short stories are awesome. It’s nice to finally have a young professor!

She is definitely one of the easier teachers in the English department. As long as you show interest in her course and do the work, you should have no problem passing. She said in class she will only fail students for not reading the short stories or if you show major problems in writing (i.e. can't write sentences). Visit her during office hrs:)

Carmen was really kind to me when my grandfather passed away. She gave me an extension on my research paper because She knew that I would be busy with family things. English was one of my worst subjects in high school but it's going to be one of my best in college because of her kindness and understanding. She's a fair marker and likes creativity.

She wants us to call her Carmen. The class is laid-back, relaxing, and at the same time, you can learn a lot. She's organized, prep. for class (w/overheads), she's also knowledgeable, making references to literature she's read. Her essay, quiz, exam, participation are either worth 5,10 or 20% max. If you screw up on one thing, it's not the end :)

Hard marker, doesn't know how to teach, advise ppl to drop her class without actually doing any assignment...isn't the whole point learning and applying what you learnt...by the 3rd class, she telling people to drop her class already based on one assignment that you write on the first day...STAY AWAY..unless you are good in English.

Carmen piqued my interest with every class. She stimulated my dormant interest in literature and other things... Carmen is WICKED AWESOME. Looks great in those short skirts. Always willing to give one-on-one attention to the harder aspects in the class. Thank you.

Nice tacher, but really hard marker. I got a B- and it should have been a B+. Sometimes she lets the class drift off onto other topics. She is new to teaching and it shows. Sometimes you can find stuff through websites that explains the readings better than she does.

She is an awesome teacher. I totally disagee with the ppl who complain. She's funny and helpful and is a fair marker compared to a few other english teachers. The essays given out are easy. =D As long as you try you'll do fine in this class. With minimal effort I achieved a B+

This class really deepened my appreciation for the short story. I thought Carmen brought great material to class for discussion. If you are a fairly good writer with a broad perspective, you will enjoy her class.
