Comment:

Charlie goes super quick and can be hard to follow. However, he is really helpful in office hours. Homework was kind of pointless in this course. This final was death and dragged my grade down quite a bit.

He really moves through this class very quickly, so be prepared to do a lot of work. However, he does really care about you, and as long as you try you won't fail.

Charles is an amazing professor, is very helpful in office hours, and will immediately explain something to you if you get off track during lecture. Absolutely the best math professor Ive had.

Comment:

Definitely the best professor I've had. Very helpful and cares about your grade as long as he sees you're trying. If you get lost during lectures, stop him, he's more than happy to slow down. Also, he's got some super funny jokes so go in and talk to him. Do. The. Homework. All the questions from the tests were from there.

Comment:

Charlie is a nice person, however messes up in lecture a lot. This makes lecture very confusing, and he does not really explain things step by step. If you haven't already taken calc in highschool, i would not recommend Charlie.

He is the best math teacher I have ever had! Expectations are clear and lectures are good. Nothing on the tests was unexpected and he is a very nice and understanding teacher. I would recommend him to anyone.

Such a fun and energetic guy. Always open to questions during lecture, and good at explaining concepts. My only problem is that he gets so wrapped up in what he's doing that sometimes his lectures fly over my head. I would recommend skimming the material and reviewing notes before lecture, because this is a really fast paced class.

Frohman struggled to clearly and concisely explain critical concepts; lectures were disorganized and improvisational; he consistently made computational errors and would quit problems; tests were poorly constructed; ambiguous grading; had TA lecture new material during discussion; lacks professionalism; made questionable remarks about class/race.

Comment:

Best professor I had in my freshman year. You just need to complete the homeworks and you will get enough practice to get at least B. He is always there for help. Take an appointment and get your all problems solved easily. The only issue I had in his class was that after thanksgiving break ended we did 2 sections so I was not able to practice them

Charlie is a great guy. Very friendly and very willing to be helpful. His problem is that he rushes like crazy during lecture. He doesn't explain things very well, and isn't the greatest at clearing things up. He is a very intelligent guy, but he would occasionally make mistakes and just scrap a problem. Nice guy, decent teacher.

I really liked Professor Frohman. The class is pretty easy if you are willing to put in the work. He doesn't make the tests too hard. He is clear in presenting the information you need to know, but has a tendency to move too quickly through the material. The one annoying thing is that you have a quiz everyday for discussion section.

He is a very smart person but extremely deragatory toward certain students. He repeatedly called out the women in the class and placed them in a negative light. He also told several students that they were dumb-- totally inappropraite.

Charlie is a great person. He's got a great personality and is very friendly. Can't say I ever enjoyed him as a professor, however. I found he goes way too fast through the material to the point where I spent more time trying to write things down than actually following. Then when I went back to read the notes they were literally incomprehensible.

Was very clear about what was expected, always available for help during office hours. Lectures were fast paced but extremely interesting and I never found myself watching the clock. Best math professor I've had at Iowa.

Awesome professor who knows the material well. He is a very skilled teacher as the other comments have said, and most important of all, he cares about his students. I had mistakenly booked a flight which conflicted with the final, and he was able to re-schedule the time for me. Good professor and great person!

Simply one of the best professors I have ever had. His enthusiasm for the material, sardonic comments, and well paced class were just excellent. Everything was approachable and just... fun. It was fun. I want to take this class again.

He is a great teacher, but he teaches at a really fast pace which is hard to get used to. However, he is almost always willing and able to help in office hours, and he really cares about his students. The curve is pretty big too which is nice. He encourages critical thinking for homework, but tests are identical to notes.

I took functions spaces from him. It was a hard course...but he tried his best to teach it and even got me interested in it!! Awesome professor!! He genuinely cares about his students!!
