Very smart man and truly cares about all his students. But this is an insanely hard class. Understanding EVERYTHING on the HW is key to doing well on the tests. GO TO OFFICE HOURS. Have him explain you anything you dont get on the HW. Tests are very hard, but he curves well and is a lenient grader. Go to class and get the easy 100 on attendance.

An absolutely amazing person, but no matter how well you understand his lectures, nothing he teaches prepares you for the homework, much less the tests. The out of class hours are crazy. Half my class would meet up to work together, sometimes up to 8 hours a week. He's super helpful and understanding and caring, but physics is physics.

I really enjoyed his class. There was a good amount of homework. The tests were hard but not impossible. He lectures very well and has a lot of demonstrations to help you understand. If you don't go to lecture, you will miss important things. He is also always at office hours and is very available for questions. Probably my favorite professor

Wiegert's a cool guy, and I always did better on the tests that I thought I was going to do. This is a major class, so if you weren't studying and trying your best to master the material I'm not really sure what you were doing there.

Dr. Wiegert makes sure to explain everything super clear in class and will answer any questions you have. However, each class has new material so you need to be there. You also need to stay ahead on the homework or you will be behind. The tests can be hard; finishing them in time requires a bit of work. Time management is a must in the class.

He makes physics fun with his demos. However, he is a really horrible lecturer. His lectures are all over the place leaving even the best note-takers with useless notes. I passed this class because I read the textbook and did the practice problems in each chapter. Class is pointless. If you ask him which chapters the test will be on, he won't know

Tests are really hard but all uga physics tests are hard. He clearly cares about his students learning the material and is interested in what he teaches. I learned most of the material by doing the homework and using outside materials, didn't learn much in lectures but need to go for clicker points.

Dr. Weigert is a very experienced physics teacher and makes himself available to students for help as much as possible. The being said his class is probably one of the hardest I've ever taken. He makes doing good possible but only if you're willing to put in a lot of time and effort. The tests are hard so find a study group soon.

Comment:
Wiegert was decent for 1251. I'd never had a physics class before and was often confused in class, but he is super helpful in office hours. I went a ton and ended up with an A! Grade is made up of different components, and he's very generous with partial credit on tests. Labs and class itself are fairly boring, but it's not awful if you try.

Dr. Wiegert's class is very tough because of the content, but he himself does the best he can to help the students. You have to show effort and take initiative if you want his help. This class took a lot of study time and its essential to find a study group because no one in that class understood everything on the first try. Tough class but doable.

Dr. Wiegert is one of my favorite professors. He is a very passionate, and is always thinking of ways to make the class more interesting. Labs and participation may not seem like much, but they can definitely be a life saver at the end of the semester. Also, DO YOUR HOMEWORK. It might seem like a no brainer, but it can be easy to forget.

Professor Weigert is a very nice guy. That's really the only positive thing I have to say about the class. The tests are difficult in nature, infrequent, and cover a lot of material. If you fall behind in the online work even a little bit, there's a good chance you're doomed as far as your grade goes. Unfortunately, I'll be retaking the class.

He's a great guy, but he doesn't play. Very funny and approachable. But he expects you to work for your grade. He doesn't spoon feed and he doesn't make it easy for you. However, if you pay attention, read the book, and PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE problems, you will have an easier time. I should have taken my own advice. But I really liked him.

Dr. Wiegert is a great guy, but the class focused so much on the labs. The tests were difficult, and he never posts the notes online. He posts the exams and solutions online after the exam, but it is not enough. He is not specific on what chapters to read in the class. The test questions are different from the questions seen on the homework.

He was extremely helpful when I needed help with a problem. Most of the time, homework help sessions are available to you if you need help, and he tries to make his office hours work for everyone. The tests were accurate reflections of what he taught in class, all of which directly correlated to the homework. Overall, this is the teacher to have.

Because of Dr. Wiegert, I wish I could take more physics as a biology major. He's fun, sparks interest in his students, and is patient enough to diagnose what you don't understand, then clear it up very well. Great professor.

I took PHYS1311 and PHYS1312 with Dr Wiegert. That's the Advanced Introductory physics courses. I got an A in both classes. These reviews are just a manifestation that Chem and Pre-med majors are morons. Don't be a moron. Just learn to think and you'll be fine.

DO NOT TAKE WIEGERT. The homeworks are impossible. I took this class with a few friends and we're nerdy honors science majors and we would literally spend 8-10 hours a week on homework... and not get 100%. We had to hire a physics grad student to help us with the problems and he could not do some of the INTRO PHYSICS problems. rediculous class.

He is a very good professor without a doubt. If you want an A, you HAVE to do the Homework, do well in lab (including the lab final which is not easy), participate with clickers, and do well on the tests. The Tests ARE Hard, but know the concepts, do hw problems, and suggested practice problems and you'll do fine. When taking the test be confident!
