She is a poor lecturer. she is nervous and speaks in a monotone voice. Reads from her notes. Her tests are fair if u study. The discussion day is boring and she counts if u participate. Had to email discussion questions which I always forgot to do, and she penalized you. Pick another class if she is teaching. would not recommend this professor.

Culpepper expects a normal amount from her students. Lots of reading in her classes. This is my second class with her and I like her teaching style and her tests-- which are mostly essay. She makes her classes more of a lecture and discussion base rather than a teacher talking at student.

I love going to this class! In previous years, I always hated the idea of studying Western Civ; the thought along makde me nauseous. But I like this class, Prof. Culpepper makes the class interesting and I enjoy going to it. Western Civ isn't so bad anymore!

Biggest waste of time EVER. The class was so lame. She didn't really teach anything. She reads directly from her notes and has a "discussion day" once a week which amounts to her sitting back and doing nothing while you get to hear mindless prattlings from other students. In short, it was a terrible class that hurt my GPA for really no good reason.

While this class was ok along the lines of studying, papers, and tests, this really easy to get distracted in the class. She talks on and on about subjects trying to get you interested in the subject, but she just doesn't make it interesting and is a little melodramatic with a bit of a monotone voice. Nice, easy class, but pretty boring.

She's a really nice person but she could stop saying um in her presenations. I don't think this class is really writing intensive like everyone thinks it is. Weekly readings which you have to write less than half a page and 2 two-page papers. big deal.

wow she has to be the WORST history teacher i have ever experienced. She is awkward with her "presentations" doesnt really know what she's talking about, and is so boring i want to gouge out my eyeballs with rusty nails. Every time she says "woman", she uses it in the plural. Ex "All these woman". ughhh, i want to kill myself just thinking about i

Comment:
The class should be writing intensive-- there is a lot of reading and a lot of response work. If you like history, then it is ok. However, if you dont, then you'll be really bored with the lectures. I felt like I could've learned so much more from this class.

Confusing lectures, but she seems pretty nice. I don't really recommend her , but it's not a hard class. Weekly 1 page responses to readings and weekly discussions, 2 exams, and two 4 page papers.

She's nice, has a lot of knowledge and a hard time communicating it. Her lectures are rambling, disjointed, and not overly exciting. It won't be the worst class you ever take.

A really boring class. It should be a writing intensive class but it isn't. There is a lot of outside reading and writing pretty much every week. Her notes and lecture are extremely difficult to follow.

Very easy to talk to and get along with. Creates a very open and friendly atmosphere in the classroom. Never thought I would enjoy classes about the Renaissance or Reformation. They seem like boring topics but she makes them quite interesting.
