Dean really wants his students to succeed. His wit and humor were something to look forward to every morning. Tests are heavy, but he specifies exactly what will be tested. He made a course pack with previous tests, which were a great help for studying and practice. He's a really friendly guy and that made learning a lot more fun.

I took History of Economic Thought with Dean. It was simultaneously the hardest and most useful class I'd taken at SU. The course really synthesises everything you learned of Econ up to that point. One MAJOR paper (+70 pages) and 90 minute oral exam. If you listen, study, and update your paper you will be just fine. Also, his Econ jokes are a plus

Dean Peterson is hands down the best teacher I have ever had. He is so passionate about economics and makes it very interesting. He is great to work with during office hours. His tests are long, but the content is not surprising at all. Everything that comes up in tests is stuff that he teaches. Please take this class!!!

His lectures are really helpful and fun. Reading before class is always helpful, so you can grasp his lectures easily. Don't skip class; reading itself won't help you understand nor pass.

Quite simply, he is the best professor I have had during my time at University. He doesn't use Canvas but his lectures are interesting and funny at times, and he will never pass up the opportunity to explain something further if questioned. If you're on the fence about majoring in Economics or not, you should definitely take his class.

Dean is amazing. I'm not an economics major by any means, but I absolutely loved his class. Lots of homework but very clear expectations and incredibly engaging lessons. He really cares about each student, wants you to succeed, and does everything he can to give you the tools to do so. Also, I've never had so much fun in a class in my entire life.

I hate econ but dean made this class as enjoyable as possible. He doesn't use canvas and all of his lectures are on the whiteboard so this is not the class to skip, but he explains everything really well and goes out of his way to help during office hours.

One of the best. He gives you so many chances to be successful- it's up to you to take him up on it. The final exam was the most fun I've had in a test. Dean really pays attention to where you're at, but isn't going to parent you about it. I wish this class was at the beginning for Econ majors, because it literally made everything fall into place.

Great Professor. Definitely one of the best I have ever had. However, he is a tough professor. He'll make you work for it. The good thing is that he is willing to explain a concept until you understand it. At times, he even takes time off his personal schedule to meet with you so you get the concept. If you put in the work, you'll do fine.

Definitely my favorite professor at SU. He made lectures interesting and necessary to understand the homework. Please don't miss any of his classes. Your grades will suffer. I understood a bit slower than the rest of the class, but when I went in for office hours, he was extremely helpful! Tests are dangerously long, so be prepared.

Dr. Dean is one of the best professor at SU. I truly enjoyed his class. His exams are very long. If you are an international student and speak English as a second language, be prepared to have TOEFL-like passages in exams.

If you have the chance to take Dean's class, DO IT. I thought economics was boring, but now I think it's fascinating. He's super available and helpful, and makes the material understandable. His expectations are clear and if you put in the work it will definitely pay off. It's a hard class, but if you're gonna take it, take it with Dean.

Challenging professor. Incredibly passionate and knowledgeable. Homework once a week, worth ten points. 3 LONG tests. The class moves FAST, you have to work to keep up. Go to office hours and participate often in class (even if you're wrong) -- and he will love you. Very personable guy, but if you don't care, he won't

He was one of the hardest professors I have ever had. His test are tedious and his homework can be tricky. However, he is clear of what he wants, he is always available to help, and he's approachable to talk to. I have learned so much more about econ taking his class. Take him and your world will change! Curves test too.

Dean is hilarious and so so much fun, the material is what makes it difficult. It is hard stuff but a requirement for most A&S majors. He has flexible office hours and even comes in on weekends and holidays to meet with students. The homework and reading is extensive and you will NOT know what's going on in class unless you do them so keep up!
