Comment:
Hung is possibly one of the best professors I had. He explains the concepts really well. Labs are not too hard, do them before the Lab and ask questions. Lab materials are usually based on his slides. You still need to self-study because this class focuses on knowing the concepts, fundamental, and requires great analytical skills.

Comment:
Prof Hung teaches the core concepts of Digital Design really well and he also introduces the students to Verilog and its implementation. This course helps strengthen your knowledge of hardware engineering. He focuses more on the design than the verification process. He is experienced in his field. He expects you to be disciplined. DO THE LABS WELL!

Comment:
Fantastic class that really prepares you for future classes, your senior design project, and the industry. Really ties together concepts learned in 124 to CPU design. This class just makes everything click, and Professor Hung has no small part in that. Friendly, approachable, and generally just a great professor.

One of the best CMPE professors at SJSU. Know how to do lab 7 for the midterm and lab 8 for the final. Tests are not easy but not over your head hard. I always walked out saying "That was a good test" even though it wasnt easy. They make you think a lot. Only challenging part was cache memory since it was rushed.

Comment:
He grades fairly, keeps the disruptive students under control, is eager to share knowledge with students, and has a good teaching style that is clear and straightforward. Lectures are interesting and never boring. Subject matter is challenging but he gives ample opportunity for improvement. Definitely one of the best CmpE instructors at SJSU.

Comment:
I didn't learn anything about digital design that I didn't already know from 124, but I did learned how to express design using Verilog. The lecture is extremely slow paced and somewhat trivial if you're good at digital design. If you do&understand the labs you'll easily pass this course. It seems the only ones struggling are absolute slackers.

Still one of the best CMPE professors for undergrad. Teaches with principles of discipline and punctuality. CMPE 140 is about speeding up processing times. A good background in 125 will help you out plenty. You'll learn some assembly while continuing to use Verilog. Exams: If you understand the lectures and how instructions move around, you're OK.

Compared to 124, CMPE 125 is a breeze. You will spend your lab time programming instead of cutting wires. You will need to review Verilog on your own. Two things about Dr. Hung: Late to class = public apology and late work = zero. But despite his strict timeliness principles, he taught with care. Pay extra attention in the second half of his class!

Great Professor, but be prepared tp teah your self verilog.. he wont go over the basics... Most of the class fail first test. labs are ok. last day of class he gives you a handout, and that handout is practically the final. never used the book, you have to buy his notes. good luck!!

Comment:
He threw a bunch of code samples at the students from the beginning, and provided only a cursory explanation. The first few labs were merely copy-and-paste of the provided samples, so we did not start with the fundamentals. His class lacks structure. Prepare to teach yourself and make sense of several things at once.

Excellent teacher. Very sincere. Makes sure the students understand the subject. Not caught on by syllabus. But sticks to what he teaches and ensures only what he has taught figures in the exam. Very understanding. Highly recommned taking his class

A great professor. You will learn Verilog from this class. He does a good job going through each module you have to design, and there are a sufficient amount of examples provided. He actually wants you to learn. The book is optional. The TAs during my semester were also very helpful.

A great professor. You will learn a lot from him. He expects students to work hard and recognizes thier efforts. He is probably the hardest working professor in the department and goes out of his way to attend to his students and classes. I recommend taking a class taught by Dr. Hung
