Comment:
Marsch, as someone else mentioned, does not teach much. She uses the discussion too heavily and only gives bare bones explanations for basic concepts. Her teaching style is very unfocused and hard to listen to. She also doesn't moderate a discussion. The class would have been more fun if I had just read the books alone.

Class is discussion-based, both in lecture and on a discussion board. Contributing regularly is a major part of the grade. She tends to take a backseat after starting the discussion, so make sure you know how to enter the conversation. She's pretty flexible with the essay formats if you have an idea you want to pursue.

This was the most pointless class I have ever taken. Lots of busy workwritingreading. If you don't read you won't do good on the take home essay exams. I wouldn't recommend this class. Choose a different GE!!

If you do the assigned work ( a lot but manageable) you will do pretty well. The class was all discussion and participation based. Students gave their thoughts on the readings the entire lecture. The midterm and finals were essays (tough grader). There was one presentation about a quote.

she knows what she is talking about. She gives you a chance to ask questions and there are really no wrong answers, she. She would be nice to go out and have a cup of coffee with and disscuss a book with

She is helpful enough. However, the classes are just discussion based. Essay exams (2). Discussion board and participation. Not bad, but not an extremely easy grader.

Took her twice now. One class was mostly discussion with her guiding with questions, one class asked her a lot of questions so she spent a lot of time explaining. She seems to do whatever the class needs. I liked the discussions better, but both ways worked out. She picked awesome material and I learned a ton about stuff that really matters.

Marsch does not teach. Discussion is interesting and you learn from your peers but not from her. She assigns too many readings that never get discussed in class. She is a nice lady but is not a teacher. It is the class material that is interesting and useful not her in any way. She doesn't give any feedback on exams. good class bad teacher.

This professor is not easy but she is very valuable in your pursuit of an education. If you want an easy ride through a class, you won?t like her. She sticks to the policy and holds students to a high standard but isn?t that why we pursued a higher education, right? This is what all professors should be like. Learned so much from her.

My favorite class and prof at OSU. Tons of discussion. She listens really closely to what students are saying, and it seems like she's just going to let everyone talk, but then she somehow summarizes everything and puts it into an intellectual framework and ties it back into class. She always made my ideas sound smarter than I thought they were.

I'm a senior and she was by far my favorite professor so far. I learned something everyday, so I was excited to come to class. She had high expectations for everyone and then worked tirelessly to help us meet them. Wicked smart, but lots of profs are. She knows how to teach and wants to share her knowledge, which makes all the difference.

Middletown too. "I don't have answers for you, I just have a lot of questions." I'm a better writer and a better thinker because of her class. I always get a lot of compliments from my other teachers. That's all from Ms. Marsch. I hated it at first, but now I know what she was doing for me and I'm grateful, just like she said would happen.

I had her at Miami Middletown and she told us on Monday that by Wednesday we needed to have a rough draft for a 7 page paper written and peer edited by two other people in the class. It doesn't give you a lot of time to write a good paper

She just exudes love--not creepy, just really inspiring. I'm learning a lot from what she assigns, but also who she is. Perfect for a class on love, which is an impossible topic anyway ("I'm not sure I know much about love, but I know a lot about what other people across the world say about it. Let's look at some and see what we think." Awesome.)

This teacher notices everything, even when she doesn't say anything. She actually really cares about the students in her class as people. We've had the best conversations in her office. I went there to talk about the exam and we ended up talking about my life. OMG she doesn't accept laziness from people, though, like, at all.

good class, awesome teacher. She was wicked smart and always enthusiastic. We read a ton, but I ended up really liking all the books. The theory stuff is hard, but she explains it enough that you get why it's important to think about.
