I took him. I had a good background in math, I am a returning college student. So at least half the work I seen before. The hardest part for me was the word problems. But just study the quizzes,& HW at the MLC,. in the Final he gives a study guide with the exact same questions, just different numbers. Over half the class failed, you have to study.

If you struggle in math take him!!! He literally spoon feeds you everything let you make test corrections. He is the best I love this professor so much. Last semester I failed math 40 this semester I got an A. Take him you wont be sorry

you have to take quizzes and time drills every time you come to class. The way he teaches is unclear and hard to understand. I don't know why there are so many good reviews about this professor. It is very lecture heavy but at least he's quirky

Comment:

Gives out quizzes every class unless you have a test. Doesnt teach the subject expects you to teach your self class is just review. Talks to the board instead of class. When he makes a mistake he corrects the mistakes with out explaining. Do not take this proffessor!!!!!

By far the best math proff ever! Lets you do extra credit, lets you correct tests for a better grade, and helps you pass. I used to take the same math classes 2x because of how hard they were, with proff armostrong I received a B when I usually get a C- in math. Take him you wont regret

Comment:

Professor Armstrong truly cares about his students. He doesnt mind answering students questions in the middle of a lecture. I dont know why the difficulty is so high. He offers extra credit and allows you to do test corrections. So if you struggle in math, I highly recommend this professor. Ive taken him for both 15 & 40 and have passed.

He is great at his job. I took him for math 15 and math 40. He lectures and gives extra credit if you take notes, and allows test corrections. I'm not the best at math, but I did pass his class. TAKE HIM YOU WON'T REGRET IT.

Comment:

Pretty straight forward class, just come to class, take notes, & do the homework. We have speed drills & a 3 question quiz each class as like a warm up. I don't reccomend missing a day unless you really know what you're doing, I missed a day & was completely lost. He does also give plenty of opportunities for extra credit outside & inside of class.

He is a really good professor. His explanations are amazing. You have to do Speed Drills, which is nice. He gives chances to recorrect mistakes for credits, so that you have less chance to fail the test. He has a sense of humor. I would take with him again.

Comment:

Mr. Armstrong is an amazing professor! I have taken him for math 15 and math 40. He is always on time, he's never missed a day. He gives great notes and writes the notes on the board. We have a 3 question quiz every class, but they are very simple. He gives a lot of extra credit. His homework is online and due every other Tuesday. Take the class!

Mr Armstrong is really a rare find, especially at a community college. I struggle with math and failed intermediate algebra 3 times at golden west college. Mr Armstrong really inspired me and kept my interest during the semester, he likes to relate the course topics to real life situations and will explain in detail how and why something works.

Mr. Armstrong is a very traditional straight forward teacher. He is super nice even though he seems super tough. Do the homework and participate in lectures. His speed drills before class are pretty simple and good for the extra points. He is willing to help you with anything you don't understand. Awesome Teacher

Armstrong was a great teacher. When he gives back the test, you can do corrections and get 50% on the points you missed. He has a speed drill which everyone usually passes and if you don't understand something he will explain it to you again. The homework he assigns is helpful for understanding the lecture. Passed with an A

Took Math 40 in Fall 2014. My Mathlab homework online. 3-4 chapters due every week. I failed Math 40 the previous semester and was sh*tting bricks about taking this class. I ended up getting an A! The work you put in will determine what your grade is. Before class, there is a speed drill every class. The OPTION to DO TEST CORRECTIONS saved me.

He's a good teacher, but I don't know that I would take him again only because I don't mesh well with stress. Stress #1: Speed drills first thing every class. A lot of questions; have 5 min. Stress #2: Quizzes every class meeting after speed drills. Tests are 10 questions w 5 min each. Lectures after tests. Uses MyMathLab, BLEH.

He's a good professor. I'll bet that most of the people who didn't like his class were people who didn't do the work. Math is not easy for most people but if you don't work on it, it can be confusing and it is not the professor's fault. His grading is very forgiving If you ask for help he breaks it down for you You just have to ask Most ppl don't

Comment:

The prof. assigned a lot of homework at times, but it never was anything to pull your hair out over. Lectures were boring, and he kind of sped through some very important concepts at times and then spent half the class on concepts that every already seemed to understand! His test grading is pretty forgiving. Be prepared to use your book a lot. >.<

This was the worse prof ever!! He was not helpful at all and at some points he made you feel very stupid. He does not make it clear on what he is teaching and he expects you to just know it. He offers no help at all. Dont take him or you will regret it!

he is not a very helpful teacher nor is he a good teacher. His policy is right out of a 6 grade class and he treats you that way too. Dont take him!!

Comment:

For every test, but the final, you can resubmit your test and get 1/2 credit for the ones you missed. My only issue was that he would finish lecture maybe 20-30 minutes early, and make us do classwork, if you leave he takes points off.
