I would HIGHLY recommend Ellen if you want to really dig into the history of education and are interested in educational reform. She is very knowledgeable about this topic and can back up all of her statements. Don't slack off; the final paper will be written about in-class discussions and materials.

Ellen was the best professor I've had! She is full of so much wisdom and knowledge about children and education that I thoroughly enjoyed listening and participating in the class discussions. I grew as a future teacher this semester because of Ellen's passion and strong will. Highly recommend the course and professor!

I loved this class and loved Ellen! She felt like a 2nd mom for me this semester because she really cares about all her students. I thought she was crazy the first day, but eventually got used to it. Wish I could have her in more classes, because of how knowledgeable she is in a variety of areas. Loved going to class even at 8 A.M.

I absolutely loved this class! This was my favorite class this semester. Ellen Fairchild is the best professor i have had. She is funny and smart and her classes were a joy to go to. I had this class at 8 am and i never missed it! No tests in this class, just papers. I would take this class again in a heartbeat!

Comment:

Ellen is a great teacher. She has tons of experience in her field and loves interacting with her students. This class was my favorite of the semester. She teaches so the whole class is involved, and we are all still friends now. Ellen helped to foster my love for education while challenging me along the way. She was fantastic!

I personally found the class to be really informational, however avoid taking it from 4:10-5:30. It makes the class feel longer and drag on. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I would've taken it in an earlier section. However, overall Ellen is a wonderful teacher and I highly recommend her.

No tests. It's a reflection class. She's suppose to make to you think and you write papers for her. The class is only 100 points. You MUST do well on your papers to get an A. She's been one of my favorite teachers ever and CI 204 has been one of my favorite classes ever. If you don't like this class, don't be a teacher.

I love Ellen. My class had some really good discussions, and I learned a lot from them. Some of the readings are hard, but if you skim them, you can easily get by in class. The entire class is just a few short writing assignments. Just follow the guidelines she gives you and you'll be fine. She is very approachable and funny.

This class is super easy if you take it with her. I had the guy for a couple weeks and he seemed really hard. All you do is write 4 one page single spaced papers and if you answer the questions on the rubric you will get a 10. The class is only out of 100 points and 20 of them are attendance. She will mark off for grammer erros so have it prof read

I've taken several classes with Ellen. She's super fun and her classes are fairly easy. The classes vary on if you need the book or not. She does push assignment dead lines back quite often, but who doesn't love more time?! There are a lot of group discussions and group projects. If you go to class and get your stuff done an A is easily achievable.

She is a HORRIBLE teacher! She literally stands at the front of the room and reads off her notes for the whole class period. She is also very lazy. She has you do assignments but I doubt she ever even looks at them. I didn't learn a thing in her class. Don't buy the book -- you will never use it.
