Good prof he likes to be on the controversial side but he makes you think like few do. Also pay attention to what the assigned books omit. He's a careful reader, and he may b hoping u notice what's left out

Possibly best professor I've had at UTD. His lectures are impossible not to be interested in. His TA's grade hard, but you learn a lot. His class is probably the reason why I became interested in PolySci. His lectures can be a little biased, but he is certainly not afraid to bring up controversial subjects.

The professor makes a subject that many people consider boring actually quite interesting. There are three term tests and three essays, and the lowest of each gets dropped. That being said, it's not hard to get a good grade, just take good notes. And pay attention, he actually knows what he's talking about.

He is just OKAY...he goes off on a rant all too often which sucks because that's more info we have to scan the book for. He is not helpful at all, Whitney, my T.A. is the reason I did well in his class. Avoid him if you can.

The lectures are interesting, but that is about all this class has going for it. I have not missed a single period yet- even when I had a severe case of the cold, and I still barely pass the class. The 3 Essays and 3 Terms tests are passable, but ridiculously hard unless your good at memorizing. There are no guidelines to what will be on any test.

Awful professor with awful TAs. 3 Essay tests and 3 Terms tests which he does not prepare you for at all because he is busy ranting about why he hates Obama. The TAs give wrong information and refuse to tell students what is going to be on the test, only what "might" be on the tests (which inevitably will not be included). Do NOT take his class.

I would NOT recommend this professor. He cusses a lot, is VERY opinionated, and he talks pretty fast in the lectures so it is hard to keep up when writing notes sometimes. He makes you hand write notes, so no laptop. 3 terms tests and 3 essay tests. THEY ARE NOT EASY. The TA's are VERY picky when grading, which is really bad. Take another professor

Essays could be on ANYTHING he talked about in the classes so you have to study all your notes in detail, and of all the terms you have to learn each unit, there are only 7 on the terms test so its hard to decide what to study. He is an interesting speaker, but with the way he lectures, its hard to retain any information after you walk out of class

I don't know why my previous rating got deleted. But do NOT take this prof. it is not an easy A, like some of these people are saying. It may seem easy at first, but the way he sets up his tests, its either hit or miss you don't get any credit for knowing 99% of the material because he will just randomly test you on that 1%.

This class just sucks, 3 ESSAY Tests, 3 'terms' tests. He will give you like 2 pages of topics that could potentially be on the essay test, and pick the one you are least expecting. Not an 'easy' class, and not a blow off class (takes roll everyday, + seating chart).

Lectures were engaging and entertaining, though mandatory; Thielemann is a very passionate speaker. Very generous grading policies - 3 essays and 3 term identifications, only 2 of each stick.

Definitely recommend him! There are 3 Essays, the lowest of which is dropped. Answers to the essays are from the lectures. He's very passionate and funny so his lectures are interesting! Also, 3 Vocabulary Exams again lowest grade is dropped. Read the book to get the best definition. TAs grade the essays&exams so pray you get an easy grader.

Very hard teacher. His grading is very subjective. Gave no hint as to what we would be tested over. He gave me an F on my resarch paper because it was one paragraph short of the 7 page minimum, i.e. the text on the 7th page did not go all the way down to the very last line of the page. Yes, he measured with a ruler!!

This was a great class. Very easy if you show up. There are three terms tests and three essay tests, but you get to drop the lowest out of each category. Make sure you turn your cell phone off before class. That is one thing that really makes him mad. Otherwise, he is a great professor and I would highly recommend him.

Easy as long as you show up every day to take notes. He keeps it interesting, so it's not boring at all. Tests are divided into ID and Essay. TA's seemed inconsistent in grading, but you get to drop your lowest exams.

If you come to class and take good notes, it is such an easy class. The tests are straightforward and two are dropped, so you can pretty much relax for a whole month if you do well in the beginning.
