Comment:

This class is an easy A, but be prepared to fall asleep each class. He will randomly do quizzes, so it is nice to show up to class to get those points, but other than that, it isn't necessary to go to class. Make sure you pick people that you actually want to work with for your project, since you have to work with them the whole semester.

Comment:

As other people have said, this class is boring. Dr. Nandigam is a really nice guy, and he tries his best, but he's not the most energetic lecturer. Given the already bland material, this class can be a slog at points. However, you'll learn some useful skills (Git) and it's additionally a fairly easy A.

He's a nice guy, but his lectures are HORRIFIC. Every single day it's just him up at the white board droning on and on. Everybody was either on their laptops or asleep. I wonder if he doesn't mind or if he doesn't notice. Extremely easy grader. Basically show up to class and you get an A. Wouldn't take again because I learned absolutely nothing.

Comment:

Take this professor if you are okay with a typical lecture based class with dry material. In the end you will be teaching yourself all the material but you will get a good grade because that's what he does. He's not a bad guy, he's very smart, but is good at 162/163. Tough through it, do the optional homework or you will fail exam.

Although he was a relatively easy grader, his requirements were unclear and he did not understand why students would want a rubric for a project. He was also very slow on grading. Computers are allowed in his class which is good since otherwise no one would stay awake.

Horrible, he cannot teach different languages effectively. He spends most of the in class time on basics covered in several other classes then half teaches you a language and assigns a ton of work.

Great prof. Very clear and will go to great lengths to help students. Very structured and methodical in his teaching approach. Definitely knows what he's talking about. Very easy grader if you do the work.

Dr. Jag is a good teacher. He really knows his CS, and is willing to go to the end of the world to help any student. CIS-163 is the weeder course, it separates the men from the boys. It is designed to be difficult.

Jag is a great prof. I highly recommend him for 163. Everyone who complains about his class being hard obviously hasn't taking it with anyone else. He may assume you know things, but that's because you should know simple concepts from 162. Biggest plus is that he is open to negotiating when it comes to evaluating your projects.

Took this class already last semester and after taking it again with Jag, everything is much clearer. Jag is a good professor, very helpful, if you have questions on the projects, just go to his office and ask him. Gives tips that pertain to the projects during class. Overall very good prof. Would take another class with him for sure.

Jag is an incredibly nice guy. Homework is very easy, he generally releases an almost complete answer to the project a couple days before it's due, so if you have trouble, just wait, or ask him. The only thing is he is incredibly boring which makes you want to skip. In a class of 45, we consistently had ~15 students every day.

You pretty much have to take a class with him at some point, so just be glad he's pretty darn awesome. He's very friendly with his classes and the assignments and exams always range from easy to fair. 350 is painfully boring but that has more to do with the material; 343 is actually pretty interesting, but they're both easy. Take them with him.

Class was pretty boring. But the homework is very easy. (As mentioned, just searching for keywords in his powerpoint notes.) He's very clear about what's going to be on tests, so you should be able to get a good grade easily.

Comment:

Class is boring but you don't really have to pay attention because tests are all memorization anyways. Homework assignments are as easy as searching for keywords in the PowerPoint notes. This is a very easy class.

Very good class. I took alot out of it. I took it during the summer semester, he was strangely able to cover everything he normally covers without making it feel rushed. Very good professor.

Class was VERY easy, however, very borring. Sometimes he does not give you the right answer and will ask the class to give an answer. Then they will argue back and forth and you never know what he decides is the correct answer. Then you end up getting it wrong on the test. But overall, it is easy to get an A.

boring! not very lively teacher. didn't go to class and still got an A though. Memorize study guides because those are word for word the tests. Didn't like class though, a lot of busy work and felt like it was a waste of my time.
