Dr. Gilchrist is an awesome teacher. He explains everything, but if you don't understand something, ask him a question in class or send an email / visit his office hours, and he will explain it. He does require a lot of writing - 3-4 page paper weekly, 12ish page term paper - but he does not grade hard. Take Dr. Gilchrist!

TAKE THIS CLASS. Dr. G is a really good teachers. Explains everything in a interesting way, it is ALOT of writing but its is graded very easily. If you follow the grading rubrics for the tests you will make a great grade on all of them. Its a really good choice for the honors requirement

So glad I didn't drop after 1st class. Public budgeting must be the most boring req for PA, but Dr. G knows his stuff and focuses on current events, making the class interesting. There is a TON of writing-no less than 36pgs-but he grades leniently. Exams are essay format, 1 take-home + 2 in class and you get ?s ahead of time. W/ effort, A is cake.

He is very knowledgeable and an OK lecturer. SOO MUCH WRITING!! Warning! Do not take this class if you don't like writing A LOT! By the end of class it was over 70 pgs worth. If you're not one of his shining students he won't even remember your name. Overall, it wasn't that hard of a class; just the work was overwhelming.

I LOVE DR. G!! He is awesome and wants you to get a good grade. He tells you what material is on the test so all you have to do is study those sections. There are two long case studies but he doesn't grade that hard on them. Would take him again!

I took him for 2 classes, pretty much easy B or A. go to class, if you come, he'll help your grade. if you need help, go to his office, he's willing to help you. He cares about his students doing well if they care. Test aren't to bad, he doesn't grade papers hard. take him.

Professor Gilchrist is the best. I was on the fence about Political Science as a major but after his class I definetely decided to make it my major after hearing about all of his government experience. Very much writing in this class, but you can handle it. My only problem is that I cannot figure out if he's a Democrat or Republican...

Dr. G is one of the best profs I've ever had! I wasn't even remotely interested in PoliSci but he made the lectures interesting with his personal anecdotes. He requires alot of writing assignments but they are easy and generously graded. He gives you an outline of what he expects for his essay exams. Great prof, nice guy!

He's a pretty easy grader. A lot of writing assignments, but they're easy and quick to do. Tests are all essays (one take home, two in class) but he gives you the topics before so you can prepare for them. Overall not a bad class at all. Just be prepared to write a lot.

I love Professor Gilchrist! He is so knowledgeable and makes class really interesting. I used to hate government/politics but now I love it. There's some outside work, but he tells you exactly what's on all the tests so it's pretty easy.

I had him for political science 110. Easy easy class. He told us exactly whats on test the class before the tests all I had to do was just memorize it. All i did was just go the before and day of exam and i did really well. Not sure if all his classes are like this but intro into poly sci was easy easy easy take it

Comment:

Loved this professor. He knows what he is talking about and uses many real-life examples to illustrate the vauge, theoretical topics disucussed. If you're not intrested in polical science, I can see how his lectures would be boring, but for those of die-hards like me, he is excellent. Lots of writing, but tests are easy and he is an easy grader.
