Comment:

Dr. Koessler is a man of wisdom. He has had a lot of experience in what he is teaching. His lectures are interactive, well prepare, and up to date. He is caring and all of his assignments are incredibly practical. I learned from every assignment and book. I felt safe in his class although I was the only girl.

Comment:

I had Koessler for Communication of Biblical Truth. He's an advocate for manuscript use. He provides solid and very direct feedback. Despite the amount of helpful criticism, he is not a tough grader. This class is an introduction to preaching, so he is mostly concerned with content and structure rather than delivery dynamics.

Comment:

Dr. Koessler is super funny, and is also very honest. Had him for Pastoral Theology. Dry humor, always keeps it real. He can be a bit snarky/sarcastic for some, but he is such an excellent teacher. He will challenge you to get to the next level in your understanding of things. He doesn't sugarcoat, and tells it like it is. Very refreshing.

I had Koessler for Pastoral Theology. I was excited for the class but found that it was not very concrete an practical (I know - it's theology, but I feel like I could have learned a lot more than I did had he used better teaching methods and had he sparked more interesting conversation rather than his lectures which weren't the most interesting)

Great Professor. Really knows his stuff. Contrary to what people say he is a very humble man. Very approachable, makes you think and is very interesting to hear. Really helps you think about ministry and what you should be involved in. Can seem different but hes a boss!

Comment:

Pastoral Theology and Cultural Dynamics of Congregational Ministry are two classes that Dr. Koessler teaches, both are very thought provoking and possibly mind changing. Dr. Koessler is also a really easy grader.

Comment:

Subject matter is simple, but he shows how tough preaching really is. He enjoys challenging common ideas. He expects you to explain your words if you speak in class and will wait in silence until his open questions are answered. He can seem somewhat monotone. Knows a lot though. Observe and listen well, change accordingly, and you'll do fine.

I had Dr. Koessler for 4 years... He is tough, honest, and has a great dry sense of sarcastic humor. But he has a heart to make sure that the pulpits are not filled with "fairweathered pastors."

He is brutally honest & direct. This would be ok except for the fact that he doesn't give any encouragement or reassurance... You just feel totally depressed after hearing his critique. If he gives you a compliment on your sermon, soak it up for what it's worth cause they're few and far between
