Horrible Professor. If all you want is an A, then he's easy. But if this is your major, then you definitely don't want to take this professor. I chose to transfer to another professor even though I had an A in the class.

OWL consumes HUGE amounts of time, so start early. Walking out of final, thought for sure grade was a C. Turned out to be an A. The curve is HUGE, so don't freak out too much or get depressed and start making new life plans. Show up for labs, do your best, you will get full credit. Bridging to the Lab: do your best, and do them all.

He is a horrible teacher. He doesn't answer questions and doesn't teach anything. He's basically there to give you a grade while you do all the work yourself. He also has mood swings where he's nice one minute and the next, he's a jerk. Do not take his class unless you have no other options.

Come on, guys, there's a huge curve and it's an online class so rating him with an online class is ridiculous. All we can comment on is his grading, which is very VERY lenient. Maybe you're just sad he didn't give you the F you deserved? And he's not lazy, he just lives in Hawaii and flies in 3 times a semester.

I liked this class, becoase you dont have to waist your time in classrooms, the website assignements are already designed so that you can learn the material step by step. I think reading the text and doing the matteral is better than both going to a stupid teacher's class and also reading the text on your own!!reccomend it

this class is not for the faint of heart, it is rigorous and hard, if you are an excellent independent worker, then you'll do well. Other than that, not worth it.

Labs are not too difficult; there is a lot of homework & some of it is hard. Tests are hard. You are completely on your own in his class. But in the end, he is a fair grader. No one in our class got less than a "C".

Dr. O'Brien's online class is only appropriate for people who are either already awesome at chem., or learn best from a textbook. He is lazy and not helpful! In fact, at one point I asked him if he could give a brief review lecture on one of the chapters before the final. He actually ridiculed me for asking! One positive: he curves the grades.

I took the online section of this class, using the OWL system. It really requires a lot of online work, but I personally didn't find them to be that bad. He does a LOT of curving on the test. My C got boosted up to a 100%. Good class if you're an independent learner.

Took online course, not many opportunities to communicate. Easy A if you study the midterms. Some homework, few labs. Must rely on textbook to learn.

took the online course. he's slow, unattentive, very slow to respond to questions and correct his mistakes. cannot, in good conscience, recommend him. i got a good grade to, but it wasn't because of him.
