Comment:
Joy is the most knowledgable chemistry teacher I have had; also, one of the most condescending teachers I have had. Her class is though and you WILL need to dedicate about five hours a week to studying for test. If you do not study you will most definitly fail. I would take her class again in a heart beat, use tutoring services for any questions.

Pretty easy in the beginning then gets tougher. Takes attendance with clicker quizzes but they're random, not every class. If you pay attention and take notes you wont need the text book

Labs are easy to get good grades on. Tests are really tricky; I always thought I did well but then ended up not doing well at all. She's an extremely picky grader so triple check everything.

I had her for Chem 131 lab and it wasn't that hard, but the tests were tricky. She doesn't care how well you do, and isn't helpful.

Frazier is not the easiest to ask questions to. She will either not fully answer your question or make you feel stupid. She does know what she is talking about though. Overall, an easy class (an A is definitely attainable). Look over the notes and do the problem sets in the book and you are good to go.

She clearly knows what she's teaching and will make you feel inferior even if you're an A student. She says not to ask stupid questions (ridiculous). She teaches an easy course, but if you normally as a lot of questions & you're looking for a helpful professor, I suggest you switch. Quizzes are easy, tests are fair.

Horrible. She is not approachable at all, don't ask questions because she will not answer them, more than likely she will get smart. Lots of quizzes, they are kind of easy. Tests are hard, make sure you study for them, or you will not pass. No midterm, final was easier than expected.Get a nicer teacher if you can.

Chem was hard!! Regardless of the professor you get, you HAVE to study daily. My friends in chem120 with other professors asked me for my notes all the time, their professors weren't as organized and clear. If it's a PREREQ for your major, DEFINITELY take it with FRAZIER! it'll kick your butt, so study! but frazier is the best way to go, i promise

beginning of the semester this was easily my favorite class. it reminds me of a HS class because she outlines EVERY SINGLE chapter we study & posts study guide to the FINAL. not going to lie the tests are hard. do the pactice problems (i didnt &shoudve) and GO TO CLASS to actually learn! @JMU, she IS DEF one of the better CHEM120 teachers. PROMISE

She doesn't seem to enjoy her job. Never let's you make up anything even with a doc note. She treats the class like a high school teacher would. Very unprofessional and unhelpful. If you're good at chem her class isn't too bad, but if you're bad at it like I am you won't learn anything.

She knows her stuff, but she rushes through the notes and I had a hard time in her class with 200 other people. She's really boring in class, and gets mad and frustrated when people try and ask questions. I'm not good at Chem, so I did poorly on the tests even after studying for several hours. She's not that helpful, so go to her TA sessions

I ended up in her class because of reviews on this site. THANK GOD I SWITCHED TO HER CLASS:1st day of class she said "I'm going to teach this assuming none of you have taken chem before" GREAT cause i failed in HS. Classes consist of using clickers for quizzes, participation,& attendance & powerpoints for annotating outlines. tests are not bad.

Pretty much everything you need to know is in the notes she posts for you to fill out during lecture. I rarely cracked open my textbook and got an A. She wasn't the friendliest teacher I've ever had, but she wasn't bad either. Just go to class, fill out your notes, and you'll be fine.

Pros - No labs, tests and quizzes are pretty straight forward, and come from the notes in class, doesn't assign homework, good to see during office hours. Cons - you probably have to do homework anyway to get an A in this class, she's really unapproachable IN lecture - can be scary, attendance is basically mandatory

No lab reports.. only typed up pages w/ calculations, graphs and summaries which is good and def. graded quite easily. midterm and final were complete jokes---easy A's.. the only problem is that she IS NOT approachable what so ever. very rude and unhelpful. easy B+ or A i'd say.

I hardly went to class, but judging on when I did, she's a decent teacher.. To be honest, I didn't like her teaching style, but she's pretty straight-forward in her notes, and consistent in her power points, just study a lot and refer to the book, and you'll be fine.

This lady is a terrible teacher. The only way I learned anything from this class was from going to her TA's study sessions, so go to those. I recommend her over the other chem 120 teachers because I heard they were worse. Go to class everyday, you get clicker points. She drops one test grade so that helps your overall grade.

I only had her for lab and she was good and I don't think her lab was that hard. No lab reports, just one to two page tables and questions we had to turn in at the end of every lab. The final was straight forward and easy if you looked over your post labs.
