I like the structure of his course. Friday's are tutorial days where you can work on problem sets with your TA. Prof is really nice but his exams are difficult. Do problem sets!

I agree that this prof SEEMS very nice during lectures, but is much more unapproachable when you ask him questions in his office hours. Tests weren't actually that bad, just do all the problem sets and past finals. I'd say 80% of his questions are easy, but he throws in 1/2 very difficult questions to make it hard to get a really high mark.

Good luck to anyone taking this prof. He's very nice in class, but speaks to you like you're dumb when you ask questions. His tests are VERY hard, and have little-to-no relevance to the course pack. The only way to prepare for his tests are practice exams, which is BS!! Average ~60%

Chem 202 was the hardest chem course i've taken. Fryzuk was an ok teacher...u don't need to buy his text for 30$ cause they're posted online...average for the one midterm was around 60%... very hard course. don't recommend taking this course unless u have to like me if ur in chem major or biochem..

Didn't like the idea of so little reference materials though his textbook was okay. I find his voice boring and monotone though he does explain well. After going through mistakes, his midterm seemed very easy compared to the final. Definitely not forgiving at marking though.

Fryzuk is a good prof. His custom notes are enough to understand the material. I found his lectures to be usually clear, which is good. Exams were hard, but definitely not unfair, and hey, its ubc; everything's hard. The review session every week helped as well. He was nice during office hours.

i found chem 202 quite difficult. the material didn't seem hard but the exams were tricky and the marking not forgiving AT ALL. people from machlachlans section said their class was fun, ours was not a blast but hey.. it's chemistry. went to one office hour, didn't help much. just do the problem sets and make sure you understand the notes

Found his lectures very clear and effective. Also liked using Friday classes as a tutorial to do problem sets-very helpful. He presents material very well and is very personable. Tests were hard, and he wasn't a very forgiving marker, but still not impossible. Glad to not use a text book, his notes were very thorough. Very nice Prof.

I find his teaching style not as effective as the prof from the other section. He doesn't offer office hours except for the exam period. Sometimes very unclear about what he's talking about, but the course material is doable. text is not required for this course and i think his prelecture notes and handouts are very helpful when studying.

Tries to make the class fun, but lectures end up being very unclear. Only came to our lab once.

Good teacher! Really cares about his students. Tries to make chemistry fun...as difficult as that is. Fair, but challenging exams. Know your point groups and ligands!

the way he taught the lecture always puts me to sleep (might also becuz of the 8:00 class). He did explain things clearly and always shows up in labs to chat with students and see how they like the labs.

Decent prof., his 1st midterm was fairly straightforward. He is very helpful during office hours, and he really seems to want his students to succeed in the course. Hard final, though that was prolly Gates' doing (the other prof who teaches this course)!!
