I loved Prof Brown.I took this as a summer class so it was compacted but you learn so much! you have to go to class, she takes attendance.be prepared to take notes and sit in the front bc she talks quietly. Her testing style is difficult but study the outlines she gives and you'll be set!I think shes great if you dont mind different testing methods.

Prof Brown is amazing. Yes, she makes you work (as hard as that is to believe), she also takes a great interest in her students though and is willing to help with whatever you need. Non-majors took this class and did great. Yes, her testing method is DIFFERENT- she MAKES A POINT of this, it measures what you KNOW instead of what you DON'T.

Lectures anthropology like it is an interesting story. Has an entertaining distaste for children and gives you a plant she grew herself. Hard to hear if you're not paying attention and tests are not scantron, but if you do poorly it's really your own fault. Knows everything about anthropology so she's great if you're interested in it.

This professor loves what she does. She is turning 80 this year and has taught at Harvard and personally knows many of the people we study. If you don't like her it is because you have no interest in Anthro. She is a fantastic teacher who should be respected for all she has seen and done.

Nobody could hear her. Even when we offered to get her a mic or set up the projector for her, she resisted. Ridiculous tests that (she admitted this) she doesn't take herself, until after we take it. Ask a question & she'll avoid it by joking with other people. Plays favorites. Loves cats. Rewards attendance with plants.

Very good teacher. Prof knows so much about every aspect of anthro that it's hard to soak up a lot of it. Tests are very difficult. Not for people looking for an easy grade.

Worst teacher I have ever had. She is very mean and she has no feelings. My grandfather died so I couldn't come to class and she failed me pretty much. I hate antropology now because of her!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!

Professor Brown is still teaching but should have retired years ago. It is very hard to hear her during lecture and she likes to single people out during class.Lectures are extremely boring but if you don't attend there's no chance in passing.Tests are a rather unusual format and very hard! Good luck if you take this class!

Very nice lady. Class is incredibly boring and the first test is very stressful. Once obtaining a grasp on how the tests are administered, they become bearable. Study for the tests, and everything will be fine...listen in class! I never read the book once.

She expects you to read the book down to the most obscure detail. Her tests are in a ridiculous format. Her notes are incomprehensible. You will work unreasonably hard just for a 3.0. IF YOU'RE NOT AN ANTHRO MAJOR, this class will be useless to you, IT'S NOT WORTH THE EFFORT

For being a 100 class she makes the class alot harder than it should be. If ur going to take this class rem 4 things. Seat up front cause u will barely be able to hear her. U will read ur entire text. If u miss a class u will hear about and be minus pts. The 3 exams will be in paragraph form rewriting the first 5 words with trick qs.

Professor Brown expects just what any other good professor should expect from her students; she expects you to do the reading either before she lectures or as a supplement to them. She also expects you to study and ask questions in class when needed. Overall, not a bad professor, but don't walk in late or make her mad.

Absolutely love her! Amazing passion! Great teacher! She always tells us she's available for help and does so with a smile...Yeah the class is hard but if you study and go to class you'll be more than fine. She makes sure you understand, and waits for people to write everything down, and repeats hersself if someone didn't write it down. Super nice!

One of the single best professors! Her passion for the subject is amazing! When she lectures, it's more like listening to a story, like a child at bedtime... wonderful and fascinating! She relies heavily on the book (WHICH SHE TELLS US ON THE FIRST DAY!), as the book is supplemental to her lectures. She is really helpful and available.

Prof. Brown is brilliant. If you keep up with the reading and attend the lectures it will be fine. DO NOT show up to class late or talk in class, she will make a point to single you out regardless of your excuse. The test format is difficult, you have to know the material fairly well to pass. Bottom line: show up, do the reading, be respectful.

Tests are very hard and based on her lecture and book. Her lectures sometimes go along with the book, mostly not. It is hard to hear her and she refuses to write on the board. Dont take her if you need a high GPA, she will ruin it

THIS IS A VERY HARD CLASS! I'm so glad the class is over because is was sooo BORING and HARD! She lectures FOREVER and speaks so fast & quiet! Your grade is based on 3 tests (1 a month) and no final. The tests are 15 "contract" like questions most from your own notes. Thank God it's over and I passed!

WORST CLASS EVER! I received a decent grade too. She is from the stone-age, so are her tests and her teaching style. Doesn't write a damn thing down for you, just talks for 2 hours straight. Her tests are ridiculous because she deducts points for wrong anwsers. This lady would do herself and everyone else a favor if she just retired.
