Prof, Futrell is a real gem of a scholar. Its not that his class is not difficult (if you do not participate) its more that he is such a master at his profession that he is able to engage and educate you in a manner that is enjoyable and educational which makes the 12 page papers easy (and enjoyable) to write.

Taking Soc 455 on campus in a once a week class. There are no assignments except 4 essay exams based on books you HAVE TO READ. Class consists of lectures based on the books, as well as videos and class discussions. Overall fun class! But you have to read the books because the essay exams must be 8-12 pages long (double spaced thank god).

I love Dr. Futrell! He is very passionate about his area of study and has a lot of information to give. He is brilliant. The class was easy, if you do the readings. We read a couple books throughout the semester that we discuss in class but it was spread out well. We had a couple long papers, but he outlines what he wants very well so it's easy.

Dr. Futrell's class was simple to pass. His lectures are interesting and enjoyable. Course content wise, there were only a few assignments throughout the semester. We had around 3 quizzes total. The class was lovely and if you showed up for just the quizzes you could pass easily but it is much better to show up for his lectures. Brilliant class.

Take this class!!! I ended up getting a 477/490 and got an A for the semester. I only touched the book once, You don't really need it. There's 4 assignments and test. The only thing that is difficult is the 6-9 pages essay due a week before the final. Answers to the test are in the power points. He also give you a study guide for the test

Attended all lectures, extremely easy class as long as you pay attention. Study Guides is exactly like the test. Lectures can sometimes be boring, but if you engage a class discussion then it will be more interesting.

Super good professor, gives great study guides, you'll learn about sociology without it being supererogatory. When he assigns a assignment, it's actually for a reason, not just busy work. I think we only had like 3 assignments. If you don't read the book or do anything, but you go to class, I gaurentee you'll get at least a C.

Dr. Futrell is the dean of the Sociology department and is very passionate about teaching. His lectures can be interesting, but my class was three hours and it did tend to drag on at times. Read the books, discuss them in class, review them for the three take home exams. It's fairly simple, but it is a lot of work. Ask lots of questions!

Take this professor, he is so funny and truly cares about his students and about you passing. His movement class is pretty interesting, you just read books and discuss them then reflect back on them with 8-10pg essays. They are somewhat easy if you read. Either way he will go over it. His lectures are very clear, take him!!!

His lectures can get a bit boring from time to time, but the material this class covers is very easy to understand if you keep up with the readings. The papers he assigns are fairly simple and the tests are mostly common sense. This professor knows his stuff though.

This is his social movements class, you'll learn so so so much. You not only get a history lesson but he presents the material in such an interesting way. This class had three papers, though they were tough he encompasses all the material well into the paper requirements. He's a very passionate teacher and honestly one of the best teachers at UNLV.

He's an absolutely wonderful teacher!! His lectures aren't boring and he approaches each topic in a way that makes it easy to comprehend. Attendance isn't mandatory, but if you want to get a good grade I would definitely go to class on a regular basis. Four tests. No quizzes. He gives out study guides. Wish I could take this class again!
