Best professor here at Stern, try to communicate your ideas with him outside of class to show that you're engaged. If you put in the effort, you will get a lot out of it. Overall, very knowledgeable and supportive professor.

Sometimes dominated discussions but other than that he's very fair and encouraging of each student. Make sure you participate (it's 1/4 of the grade)! At midsemester he tells each student what he thinks of their participation so make sure you adjust accordingly. Go through his essay feedback on your first essay to improve for the last two essays.

Commerce and Culture was not one of my favorite classes as a freshman. I worked really hard in this class and never felt that I got recognized for it. Tough grader as well. Nice guy, but if you aren't good at engaging in class discussion about the texts, I don't think this is for you. Heard other profs are less focused on hearing everyones thoughts

Menna is an amazing professor. He really challenges you in how you think of things, and he trains you to have real analysis and research to back up your claims. His grading is tough but he lays out clear expectations. Make sure you have lots of sources on papers and that you participate. I left every class with a new perspective.

Absolute legend of a professor. Led interesting discussions and actually made the content worth learning. Well designed course, and if you approach him for help, he's more than willing to do so. A fair bit of reading, but definitely a far better class than Writing The Essay. Fair grader.

Awesome person. Very clear and helpful. Talk to him about what he wants in an essay and you'll do just fine.

Menna is a great professor and a great guy. He grades hard as hell and is sometimes arbitrary (don't expect wild fluctuations in his grading-- you'll remain in the same range throughout the course) and definitely subtly plays favorites. Otherwise, he's very helpful and extremely accessible and always puts his students first. Very, very very kind.

excellent professor but "fixed" grader, meaning that if you get around B+/A- in your essays, you WILL stay in that range.

Menna is a great professor and a great guy. Commerce and Culture with him is a much better alternative to WTE. He can be a hard grader but I got an A- on all of my essays. The class is interesting but Menna made it even better. He's very helpful and makes the discussions light-hearted but interesting. I highly recommend taking him.

He's a very nice person with an inspiring personality. He doesn't use the Stern curve, but he's a harsh grader so it's actually worse. You'll have to do well on your three essays if you want an A. Class is very entertaining though and easy-going. HW level varies from week to week. Overall, I would recommend him, and definitely rec CC over WTE.

I loved Menna's Commerce and Culture Class last semester. He's a great professor and is extremely helpful. Although his class is difficult and he is a pretty hard grader, it is definitely possible to get an A if you put the time into your papers. 2 people got A's and 2-3 more got A-'s in a 19-person class. Best professor I've had at Stern so far.

I had Menna for Commerce and Culture last semester and loved the course. He's a great professor--very engaging and willing to help students in any way possible. He's a tough grader but it's definitely possible to earn an A in his class (2 out of 19 in my class got As, a few more got A-s). Highly recommend.

although he is a great professor, he is an EXTREMELY HARSH GRADER. I am not kidding, when I say this, you will NOT get an A/A- in class unless you are literally the star student. If you're interested in learning, sure take him, but if you are concerned with your grade, do NOT take him. I am warning you. I wish I had taken WTE instead.

Menna values attendance more than participation. I skipped a few classes but always participated when I was there, and some other kid never said a word but had perfect attendance and his participation grade was higher than mine. Menna never gives out A's, only A-s, but is a fair grader and pretty awesome person. I really liked his class.

I think his classes are pretty fun even though they're at 8am in the morning. He's really easy on his students which is nice since I feel more inclined to discuss and contribute. The curve ruins it though since everyone pretty much gets good grades

He made us watch some fun movies, so the class was okay. But he asks question as a form of comment, which is incomprehensibe even to himself. He is not a hard grader, but that the average is high is also a problem, after all, he still curves it to determine grades.
