He really cares & wants you to do well. I took this class abroad along with H275 & it was super easy. Participation matters & he gave us questions from the exam beforehand (long & short answers) so it wasn't that hard. Very interesting class & he makes it fun. 275 is a few papers and he made the classes connect so they blended together.

I loved Dr. Carlin! He genuinely cares about his students and wants you to learn. He is a great guy and makes lectures super interesting. There was only 2 exams the entire semester and 2 papers. The rest of the points came from participating.

Dr. Carlin is by far my favorite professor, he was always in a good mood made class fun. The class topic was something I don't really care for, but it was probably the most interesting class I've taken. He made the material super easy to understand and made sure we were well prepared for the exams. Would definitely take his class again!!

Dr. Carlin is by far the best professor I've ever had!! He takes hard concepts and puts them in a way everyone understands them. Beware of pop quizzes on the readings. He gives you the exam questions a week before the exam so there is no reason not to get an A. Participate in his class! He is such a caring guy. He makes you love going to class.

The best prof you could possibly have on campus. Dr. Carlin was born to teach. He takes hard concepts & puts them in such a simple way that makes sense, all while having fun. He is so unbelievably caring & wants you to do well. If you get the chance to take him, you shouldn't question it for a second. Wish he could be my prof for every subject. :')

Literally LOVE him. I've never seen someone exude so much positivity & passion. The course material is difficult, but he explains it SO well & makes sure everyone understands everything before moving on. You get the exam Qs a week early & can also turn in paper drafts to him! Very caring & wants you to succeed. Best instructor I've ever had. TAKE!

Carlin is one of the best professors that you could possibly have on campus. He is always super supportive and guides you to the right direction when you're struggling. I've had him for Honors 275 as well. Too bad I probably won't have another chance with this inspirational honors director!

The essays in his class are graded very harshly but fairly. His form of exams are amazing. He is a great teacher who makes sure everyone understands the topic before going on. But he explains things well enough everyone gets it

This was a great class! The first half of the semester was devoted to overarching moral theories, and the second half focused on the application of these theories to contemporary, controversial issues. There are two papers which are probably the most challenging part of the class. The exam questions are given to you ahead of time, so study!

What can I say? Dr. Carlin is great! The class isn't easy, but that is due to the complex subject material. The exams consist of short answer and essay questions which he gives you a week before the exam. This testing system is very rewarding to those who put in a little effort and work through the questions ahead of time. Wonderful professor!

Superb. A real treat. I just wish I would not have left this class to my last semester. He is the very best prof I've had in four years at UWO, followed by 2) C. Bauder 3) J. Gemin 4) D. Siemers 5) T. Slagter. Carlin will make you think. He'll also make you work--but he's well worth the extra time and effort. IMHO, you will not regret taking him.
