Really a great professor. The class and material itself is difficult, but he understands this and does not expect you to get it right away. For exams study definitions you will do great ! He has us work on a non graded team project at first which really prepares you for the final project (so take it serious) ! go to office hours !!!

The tests are SUPER easy but they literally do not affect your grade whatsoever. I got a perfect score, 100%, on each of the tests, 90-100 on midterm and final, but none of that mattered because he gives a project that if you don't see him in office hours every week he fails you. I put tens of hours into this project ad he gave a 0 for "usefulness"

Wags comes off harsh but that's just cuz he's very old school and he knows it. He's actually pretty funny. His vocabulary is amazing and he's very smart. Three tests and they're all vocab. Huge project due at the the end of the semester--seems like you'll fail but show you tried and GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS and you should do fine on it.

He is old-style, can come off harsh. If you pay attention and ask questions, go to his office multiple times, you will get the hang of it. He answers Q's with Q's but does so to help you actually understand material. Lectures can be dull and textbook is online free. Study the multiple choice from the first 2 tests for the final, easy pass.

Comment:
Grade is primarily composed of an individual project and tests. The tests are simple and almost entirely definition based, so they can easily be studied for with flash cards. The project can be a little overwhelming but completing multiple iterations and talking with him in OH a few times will guarantee a high grade. He is mostly looking for effort

Very tough grader, never answers your questions all he does is answer it with another question and you do not get the answer you want. Expects you to listen to his lectures online before class even starts.

Typically he's rude, sarcastic, and condescending. Answers questions with questions. Also usually isn't clear about expectations regarding various assignments.

Wags is a brilliant prof, and a very good orator. The class is very difficult because of his "answer a question with a question" type of style. Exams are very difficult and almost everybody fails the first test. The final individual project is a huge pain and most people do poorly. Not an easy gpa boost, good class, good guy

He comes accross as so laid back, but when grading - not so laid back. In the end I did well because I spoke to him multiple times about final project. Don't be afraid to ask for help. Makes all the difference. Bright guy, strong vocabulary, might be tough for English as a second language speakers. Don't buy the book, never used it.

A pretty good professor except that you might think you failed the class after the first exam because of its difficulty. The course project is impossibly hard. But he'll probably curve the grades at the end and you'll get a good grade if you work hard

Nice guy, tries hard to be a good prof, lets class out early. As long as you memorize and understand his slides, you will do well on his exams. Also: pay attn. or ask questions when you don understand the individual proj b/c it is very hard and really shouldve been a group proj instead.

This class was horrible. The slides he has are not very helpful and when it came to the exams, you pretty much guess at the answers because half the info is from the books and the other half is from the slides.

He is a very bad professor and I tell u why. A professor should be willing to learn new things and keep up with ever changing world of CS. Instead this guy uses the same syllabus he used in 1997, he does not even bother to change the dates! He does not publish new stuff too, so I wonder what he is doing with all his free time. Wag go home !

I am not sure how people cannot like Wags. He is the best professor I have had in CIS. He actually prepares the class slides himself, instead of using the ones the publisher made, like most profs. Does an excellent job explaining the material in his own words. Very engaging. Clearly enjoys the subject and tries very hard to help everyone learn it.

This guy was a total **** who refused to give instruction or help and he thought he could hide it behind his laid back I'm-just-a-simple-man attitude. The ook was from the 60s and it would'nt have been less helpful if it was written in Aramaic.

Pretty hard class, received at 3.0 but content is pretty hard and teacher leaves you independently to learn modeling. Tests are pretty hard.
