Very uninformed about how the internship class is run. Told us to submit reports, then the journalism office said we could not. Did not respond to emails in a timely fashion. Caused me to be really frustrated with the class portion of internship. Wish it had been Blaustein.

Outstanding professor. It's a pleasure to have her as a teacher. I was looking for a professor who challenges a student and is very helpful. I'm walking out with more confidence in my skills. If you want to learn TAKE Bowen!

She stares daggers and her voice steals the colors from the room. As she passes, flowers whither up and bluebirds fall straight out of the sky. Employing a social Darwinist philosophy, one suspects that she might just shoot or castrate anyone who can't answer her latest vague, rhetorical question. Students look more for an exit than enlightenment.

I have mixed feelings about her and the class. I feel like a learned quite a bit, but at the cost of my sanity. My demeanor the entire semester was a mixture between confusion and nervous. In the end I psyched myself out and the "big scary test at the end" was a guided chat and nothing to fear. Good Luck and save yourself sleep by not worrying.

Prof. Bowen teaches very useful info that'll help u become a better writer. the only thing is she doesn't come off very approachable so sometimes she can seem a little mean. But if u can look past that and actually take in what she says, take advantage of the rewrites, and ask good questions, you'll learn in her class.

Bowen goes off topic often. She flatters herself in believing shes intimidating but she is just annoying. I understand college is about challenges but she's close to harassing students instead. Her due dates are often unclear as well. Instead of teaching techniques on news reporting, she shows useless websites online. Her class is a waste of time.

Prof. Bowen is amazing. This was by far my favorite class this past semester. She helps you obtain stronger writing skills and if you take advantage on rewrites they are also helpful. Prof. Bowen wants you to take something more than what you expected to out of this class. I recommend her to anyone that loves journalism.

Bowen gives me anxiety. Seriously. Which is something I'm entirely not used to since I'm a good student, adept journalist, and like a challenge. But the class is overwhelming, to say the least. The work and stress compound and her demeanor is off-putting which only makes it worse. I wish I could know her outside of a classroom setting.

You definitely want someone who will challenge you when it comes to taking a journalism course, and that Prof. Bowen does. There are a few assignments, a clipping project, and class activities, but if Journalism is your passion, she is the one for you. By the way, there are plenty of Extra Credit opportunities to take part in so you should be good.

Professor Bowen class is a lot of work but if you are truly dedicated to journalism you will enjoy every session with her. If you don't want to be a journalist, take someone else. She makes it very clear that this is the class that "separates the true journalists from the ones that hunt the glamour". And by the way, it is possible to get an A...

Listen if you think she degraded you, then maybe you should look at how you treated her and the class. Ths is a no bullsh** class people! There were only 5 writing assignments (some long some short) and a clipping project. If you can think on your own you can get a good grade. Be prepared, follow her rules and you will do fine.

WARNING: THIS PROFESSOR MAY SHATTER YOUR DREAMS OF SUCCEEDING! I CAN HONESTLY SAY THAT IN ALL MY YEARS OF SCHOOLING I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROFESSOR THAT DEGRADED ME TO THE POINT WHERE I WAS CONSIDERING EITHER CHANGING MY MAJOR OR EVEN DROPING OUT! SHE OFFERS ABSOLUTELY NO SUPPORT, CONSTANTLY LOWERS YOUR SELF CONFIDENCE, AND IS COMPLETELY UNHELPFUL!
