Comment:
Dr. Chopping is very enthusiastic when it comes to remote sensing/NASA but his organizational skills are lacking. You are required to use his outdated website to follow homework assignments for a software package that is also out-dated. Provides midterm and final exam questions prior to test date but you have to look up the answers.

Lecture's are all over the place making it hard to understand what information is useful. A lot of lab work as well that are not always clearly explained.

Prof. Chopping's Planet Earth Lecture class was by far the biggest struggle for me. He lectures about topics that don't correspond to the labs/tests which makes it difficult to succeed - you must teach yourself the material. He'll assign chapters in the textbook but never speak about them. The only thing that saved my grade was the lab portion.

he is a legit joke. He gets completely off topic each class and you never know what exactly you are learning. 4 Exams and gives 4 mini exams that are take home but it's hard to find the answers. Wasted money on buying the lab book since we only used it 4 times. It's a 100 level class but yet the exams are hard and is graded very serious

This should be an online class. Lectures are tough to keep up with, but attendance is taken, so try to read the book beforehand to better understand him. Assignments take a long time, but he is available for help if you get stuck. Nice guy, but some more structure to the course would have been good. Lots of extra credit, so passing is easy.

Professor Chopping was ok, he fell very far behind near the end of the semester. If his class was more structured I feel like it would have fixed the problems I had with him. Many of his tests are on Quizlet or somewhere else on the internet so the tests shouldn't be too much of a problem. He is pretty funny so that's a plus. Overall, he's just ok.

He's very energetic, but he's really unorganized and every class he talks about anything except what actually matters in class, and at the end of 5 minutes, he tells about a quiz/test we need to study for and the materials and he's never clear about anything in his lecutres /:

The lecture is rather fast paced, but if you have knowledge of physics, image processing or read the text book and tutorials, you will have no problem following. The assignments were increasingly complicated, but doable if you put the required time and effort into them. Do your tasks in time, attend all classes and you will get an A.

I went to class maybe five times and still got a B-. He posts the test on his website a week before the actual test and you can just google the answers. The lectures I went to in a class of 100 people there was less than 30 there. Just sit and be entertained by his awesome British accent.

Knows his stuff, but is very high speed and it is hard to follow what he is saying. I ended up teaching myself because I couldn't follow along. Tests are alright, but you must study to do well. Labs will help you out with your grade.

Had Dr. Chopping for Earth Science. I agree with the rest of the comments regarding his high-speed lectures. However, this class is super easy i ended up with an A and am terrible in science. His offers a ton of extra credit and great reviews of the tests. take him

took attendence each class. Lectures were high speed, rambling. Class was in computer lab and everyone was on facebook. Maybe 3 in the front were listening. He wants to be helpful and knows his stuff. Should just do research. Talked to much about his own work and didn't prepare for class. Only got 1/2 through the syllabus. Confusing assignments

Nice guy who knows his stuff - too bad he is unable to teach it. He is very unorganized and the class was infuriatingly frustrating. Assignments were unclear and wasted many hours since he obviously never reread the instructions after cobbling together previous course's classwork. Lectures were rambling and unfocused. Do not take this professor.

Dr. Chopping is a truly great guy. I reccomdend taking this course to fufill ur lab science requirement. For the 4 exams, he gives you what he calls "Study guides" but in essence they are a carbon copy of each exam so all u have to do is look up the answers via Google! The labs are easy and it's an easy A/B as long as you show up and try ur best

He's stream of consciousness much of the time but just show up to class and take it in, do what he asks you to do and you'll do well. The crap shoot is more in who your lab TA is as far as how much work you gotta do. Definitely would recommend for fulfilling the lab science requirement.

Don't buy the book, hope your lab partner does, or split it. You only need the lab book, not the text. Does not teach about anything but global warming and you basically have to teach yourself through notes on his dumb website to get through. I did not study once and relied on labs/middle school knowledge and passed with an A! Ridiculous, I know.

One of the most dreadful and boring classes ever. You will have four tests, most of the time he will post a "study sheet" on his website which is extremely helpful. He covers noting in class except global warming and stories about his life. He is a nice guy and is an easy A for most people. His labs are really easy so that helps with your grade.

Very interesting class if your thing is planet earth. Everything is posted on his website, don't buy the book. Exams are insanely easy because of the study guides online. Labs are easy and count for 40% of your grade. Chopping is a really nice guy and cares about the environment. You can learn a few things if you listen closely. I loved this class.

Chopping gives 4 tests= 60 %rade..the other 40% are labs. hes really helpful if you email him.. The tests arent too bad as long as you read everything he posts. lots of extra credit questions on test.gives study guides towards end of sem. lectures make you feel alittle lost but go to them anyway and take notes. so far i have an 86 avg. not too bad
