Professor Young's geologic hazards class is very interesting if you're into things like volcanoes, earthquakes, mass wasting, extinctions, etc. I personally really enjoyed his class but I love STEM... There is quite a bit of information covered but assignments are not difficult. He is relatively particular, but also understanding. Would recommend.

Mike is the pickiest professor I have ever had. Takes off 1/8 of a point because you didnt word it exactly how he would and will give you 1/2 percent for a correct answer not worded right. His tests are hard and long, you need to study. However nothing on the test is a surprise. Goes way too in-depth for a 101 class. Does offer extra credit.

He is not horrible, he does offer some extra credit. His lectures go over your head. Any senior I'm sure will be fine learning under him. DO NOT skip a class. And don't do a presentation if you have a choice not to, he makes presenters feel stupid in front of the whole class and I am not the only one who feels this way. I have not missed a class.

Professor Young is a super nice guy and is very passionate about what he is teaching. However, if you are not obsessed with astronomy don't take his class! Even using his study guides will not prepare you for tests or quizzes. It is very hard to understand the material if you aren't into astronomy. He is very caring but I struggled in his class.

I had him for intro to physics my 1st semester freshman year. At first the class seemed like it was going to be easy but it was not. He was no clear on what he would grade on and he expected all of your answers to be the way he'd answer the question.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU VALUE YOUR GPA. He's impossible. Very vague with what he expects from the assignments he grades very critically. He is smart, and you will take things away from the course, but the course will in result take a toll on your GPA. TONS of reading. He's just an all around horrible teacher. It was a miserable experience.

I had Prof. Young for an Honors Solar System course and it was a miserable experience. He is incredibly vague and expects you to know and understand things that only advanced physicists like him know. Not fair at all when it comes to how grades you (picks out minute details and laughs at you as he corrects you). Overall, try not to take this class.

Mike Young is the absolute man. He is funny and I loved him as a professor. He knows his stuff and lectures using power points. There were 4 quizzes, 3 exams & a cumulative final exam. He posts the power points online so no need to take notes. Also posts study guide online plus the previous year's class exams to look at and use to study. LEGENDARY!

Mike Young is a legend. I absolutely loved this guy! He is very difficult of a grader. You have 4 quizzes, 3 exams and then a cumulative final. He emphasizes his w's when he speaks. He loves rocks? Nonetheless, my class loved him. He has a great personality & even tried cracking some physics jokes. Although he is a tough grader, he's a great man.

VERY stubborn grader given the difficulty of the course. That being said, I've never had a professor who's enthusiasm for the course was so contagious. His class was always fun and he is extremely generous with extra credit (star observations/ movies etc.) Review the class powerpoints that he posts online and you should be all set with exams.

Arguably the best teacher I've ever had. He's a very nice guy, super helpful, and very clear with the material. It can be a difficult subject, so you do have to study hard and do all the work, but overall it's not too bad. He even has some easy extra-credit oppurtunities too. He is a bit nit-picky with grading, but just be careful and you'll do fine

I loved this class! Was always interested in astronomy, and he really has a passion for the subject. He's very knowledgable and enthusiastic. Assigns a lot of homework, but so long as you put the effort into it, it's not that difficult. He's very helpful and a very nice guy. Study for the tests though or you will not do well!! I always did fine

Before taking Michael Young's class, I had no interest in science/geology. Michael Young is one of four professors at WSC who I owe my successful legal career to. Thanks Michael! May our journey through life cross paths again.... :o)
