Comment:

LOVE PROF BRILLANTE. She is such a nice lady and all she wants to see is you to improve. This course was new to the department and I felt I learned a lot. Her grading for this course is refreshing. She gives points on assignments when you hand it in but her final grade is really based on your effort and improvement. I would take her again for sure!

Comment:

I took Professor Brillante's Rethinking Disabilities class and had her for Seminar. She's really nice and you can tell she cares about what she teaches. The class is easy but super informative, you just have to do the work. She makes sure everything's clear before moving on, and there's a lot of class discussion - she's open to all opinions! :)

Professor Brillante is an amazing professor. I would highly recommend you to take her courses. I had her for Rethinking Disability and she taught great through all her lectures. The homework she gives is also very informative. I would definitely take her again.

Please don't take here if you want to learn anything. Shes knowledgeable but uses her knowledge to degrade you and intimidate you. She will hurt your GPA. My last paper I was expecting to get an A she gives me an F for the paper. i hardly passed this course but will never take her ever again. please do yourself a favor by staying away.

Do not take this teacher for any class if at all possible. Rude and condescending in emails, extremely particular about what SHE wants even if its not necessarily at the core of what the assignment is about. Generally unfair and narrow minded, slightly aggressive in email, and ultimately not there to facilitate your success. AVOID.

I took Dr. Brillante for a total of 3 three courses while I was enrolled in the special education program. She will make you work and expect you to look things up on your own if you are not sure (which I think is great for a graduate program). Easy going and I highly recommend her to anyone.

Took as an online for the flexibility- anything but that. She requires you to log in and comment regularly. She does not allow you to submit assignments ahead of time. She takes off points if you do not comment on others discussions multiple times or do it on different days. Definitely not worth the headache, if you have a busy schedule.

Hard class, she actually reads everything you hand in (not like the rest of them) and works with you to make it better before she grades it. No slacking in this summer online class, but you learn and she helps you with whatever you need. One of the better ones in the grad program, always emails you right back.

She was extremely hard. She expected those who aren't teaching to know what they are doing & wants things HER WAY exactly. I was confused the entire class. If you don't listen, she deducts points so beware! She knew a lot but I don't consider her a fair professor. Won't take again.

Thinks she knows everything. Very knowledgeable but needs to realize she is a professor when responding to e-mails. Likes things her way, you are not allowed to adjust assignment. Have been teacher for years, and this classed seemed hard.

Excellent professor. Stimulates you to think. Some classes are online, and require posting on Blackboard. Prof assigns reading and links, you do research, she asks questions which you respond to via online discussions. A GREAT way to get everyone involved in a non-threatening environment. Experienced, knowledgable, relevant info.

Well, I pretty much taught myself as the class went along. Reading and discussing material with other students on Blackboard was the majority of it. Also, getting an F for taking my children out on Halloween instead of sitting in one of the 4 required classes stunk. A professor can be tough and compassionate. Tone towards students too lofty!

You do have to work, she checks to see that you have read the material and does not accept excuses. This is GRADUATE SCHOOL, it should be harder than undergrad. I am amazed what some of my classmates get as grades in other classes when they don't do any work at all. This class they will get what they deserve (and I got the A I deserved)

she's a great prof. who actually knows what she's teaching (rare in SPED dept). can be tough but it's for a reason and it benefits us. always learned something new in her class. (another rareness of the SPED dept)
