Comment:

While he was a caring and at times generous instructor, Mr. Maas was a bit confusing and difficult to understand. When I turned in my essays, he was not exactly clear and what exactly was wrong with my paper, his lectures were also confusing to follow. Needless to say, I passed, however I would not say hes a terrible instructor.

Comment:

Best professor I have ever had. He teaches writing in a way I had never experienced. Organize yourself and you'll be good. During the semester you will have to turn in 11 home works and 5 essays. He follows the syllabus strictly. There are no deadlines for this course works; make sure to keep track of what's going on. Easy 'A' class if you engage.

Horrible. Lectures are boring nonsense. Tries to help but sucks at it and makes you feel stupid. You will always have homework LOTS of writing. If you have a job or kids or anything else to do DO NOT TAKE HIM.

Hes hilarous. His lectures are hilarious and his volume is just right. He interacts with class. He is always willing to help and see you at conference hours. His criteria is well stated. His instructions are clear. His feedback is good.

Comment:

Mr. Maas is a very energetic teacher. You can tell he is passionate about what he is doing. The class can only be a bit hard if you do not turn work in on time. I would say the only difficult thing about the class is the essay at the end of the semester. He is willing to help you out as long as you make the time to see him outside of class.

Was a wonderful teacher!!! He was tough on essays BUT he would sit down and fix everything wrong with it with you. He was always available for help and gave great lectures. And he was very entertaining

Mr. Maas is a good professor. However he is tough to understand and if he doesn't like your essay he will tell you to do it again. He is willing to help you outside of class. But his lectures are hard to understand.

He really tries to make class entertaining. Gives pretty interesting lectures for the most part. Assigns a lot of work. The work is not too hard but it is a lot. Time management is key for this class. Book is necessary and so is attendance.

All you have to do is turn in 4 papers and a journal. The professor sits down with you, person-to-person, and discusses the paper with you. As soon as you get the paper to his standards, your paper passes. That's it. All he wants is simple sentences, no bloat. Teaches beyond basic essay format. One of the best English teachers I had.

Average professor, tough grader. Wants all assignment to be in a certain format. He will not grade until you turn it in up to his standards. Sometimes he rants off topic, or tries to be funny at times. Participation is vital to this class. He posts everything at MyEPCC website. Research Paper is Vital to this class and WILL affect your grade A LOT!

For the most part he understands if you miss a few classes but good attendance is required to take the final. He made a few exceptions for those students that still gave an effort to do the work. Tells a lot of corny jokes. Would take again

This Prof is among the worst I've ever had! He never uses the texts books that I paid good money to buy. He makes learning in his class extremely difficult. He is far to wordy and in the middle of a lecture he goes off on wild tangents about unrelated material. To make matters worse, his instructions for assignments are convoluted!! Very poor Prof

Professor Maas is not the ideal man for your course, especially if you must take English 1301. He over demands students and is a very impatient professor when you need a better explanation of his objectives. His paper loses value as time goes on and when I saw his roster half of his class had failed the course including myself.

He's not clear AT ALL! He always gets out of topic, and if you're one of those persons that like to have everything explained and that the teacher break it down for you, well bad news HE DON'T..I dropped this class, and I don't recommend him at all. PS: If you're not American don't take it, if you know what I mean...
