I've had Doubleday for three classes this year and he's my adviser, so I know him well. He's a nice guy and he really does want to help us improve, but his classes are a joke. He hands out A's like candy if you put in minimal effort, and he's very vague and non-critical. Not a waste of time, but not especially helpful if you care about your work.

Not a good professor at all. Check out his work on his site. I honestly can't see how this man is still teaching at BU. He brings down the whole department.

Pretty easy class, sometimes moves MINDBENDINGLY slow, but it picks up, and he really let's you work with the projects (you can redo ANYTHING by the final and get a new grade, sweet). He's a nice guy and will always work with you on something. Good for people with no experience, but was fine for advanced users.

Good prof. This class was kind of weird--it seemed like it was just practice with various design projects. Wish we had some more theory, more conceptual exercises, instead of having to design a road sign on the first day. Your grade is determined by your commitment and effort in your work, not necessarily talent. Doubleday is such a sweet guy.

Rick is a very nice man & cares deeply about his students, but his suggestions are incredibly banal. He gives the kinds of critiques that you would expect in high school, w/ very predictable & basic comments. I think a lot of the students are working at a higher level than he is and therefore he has difficulty knowing what to say about their work.

I had Rick for at least 1 class for 3 years straight. He is a talented designer and one of the best in the Graphic design department. He is willing to bend over backwards to help anyone in need. he is an asset to anyone's college career!!

Do you know how to build a clock from scratch? No? Well, then don't take this class. What does clock building have to do with graphic design? Beats me. Why would one have to build a clock as a part of a final project for a mere 2 credit class? I'm still trying to figure it out. He doesn't teach, just watches us try to do stuff on the computer.

Rick is the nicest, friendliest, and by far most talented of all BU professors. He is always prompt with help - he emails me back at 3 am all the time! Even if you're not a G.D. major, you should go and meet him just to see what a great guy he is!

Rick is the best. he kills the CFA yuppy professors bad time. He will teach you, guide you, but bury you at the end of the day in design. you should be lucky to have him teach you. -j
