Comment:
Mirmirani simply does not care. He frames the class to do as little teaching as possible. 2-3 presentations diminishes lecture time, as well as every class ending 15 minutes early. He's not a good teacher, ideas are presented confusingly and he does not speak clearly. Not worth taking despite sports economics being an interesting topic on paper

He will rip you apart with grades. You will be tested on things you did not learn in class so read the book.

You won't learn much from him so you will have to read the book to understand the topics. He is a good guy, but his class isn't worth taking.

I love economics, and I have enjoyed every professor I have had, but I would not recommend taking his class, find a different professor. It is your money being spent get the best education you can with it.

There is no need to show up for the class he teaches with a printout directly from the book so you won't miss much. He does not grade reasonably so get on his good side; he also doesn't have an interest in the students, he shows up exactly when class starts and leaves 15 min early without cracking a smile.

He is a great economics professor and he is a fair grader. Makes course work relevant to the real world. Spends time to make sure students are successful.

Lectures can be boring, but take good notes and his class can be a breeze. Seems like a very stern man, but meet him outside of class and he is a very nice guy and wants you to succeed in his class. His exams consist of 4-5 short answer questions, so their isn't a lot of wiggle room on his exams.

Mirmirani did not seem excited or enthusiastic about teaching the course material. His lectures were less than helpful and usually boring but he is more helpful if you go to his office hours.

Took Prof. Mirmirani for sports econ and he kept the class fairly interesting. You were split into groups and every class certain groups had to present a sports topic. Tough to get an A on those, but tests weren't too bad. If you enjoy sports and are an econ major/minor, I strongly advise taking this class.

Mirmirani made economics more bearable for me. I always found it hard, but he makes it easier and really breaks it down. He gives many options for extra credit. If you show up to class and pay attention to the lectures, as well as do homework you'll survive. Homework is easy and there is 3 tests throughout the semester

I didn't really like econ to begin with so taking his class wasn't fun. He's really hard to understand and is a tough grader. I emailed him 4 times during the semester for clarification on different things and he responded to 1 and all he said in that email was to check his previous email. I would avoid if you can

I took Mirmirani for Economic Development. The hardest portion of this class was getting up at 8am. You have to do 10 video reports (2 pages long) and 8 article presentations with your group. Sound like a lot, but seriously not bad. The tests are based ONLY on the book.

sam is a nice guy, but doesn't like to teach. every class was a different group presenting, and its hard to get an a on your presentations. tests are easy though and they help boost your grade. go to class because attendance is also a grade booster..

The tests and quizzes have literally zero to do with the textbook, which was the primary resource for learning, as the class was online. Forces you to do a ton of outside research and learning in order to be able to pass the test.

He is a very hard teacher. He just comes in and lectures. Very hard to understand and you can barely read anything be writes. The exams are basically impossible and have nothing to do what's said in class.

Class is a lecture and very boring. He gives notes for each chapter but to do well on the tests you really need to read each chapter too. There is only 3 tests, each one counting as a fifth of your grade. The other 2 fifths is homework and video assignments. The videos are long and annoying but an easy A and a way to keep your grade up

Comment:
WORST ECON TEACHER EVER. You can't understand what he says, and his writing is illegible. He makes you watch videos to "learn" but you are never tested on these (and these are the only things you may understand). The only good thing about him is that you cannot fail since he is the department head and that would look bad on his part.

Comment:
lectures make no sense. tries to cram all of the info on to the tests without teaching the majority of the info. if you can help it don't take him. video reports and homework save your grade, but homeworks are timed and difficult.
