Professor Cole is one of the hardest graders I have had. I normally have a 3.5 GPA, but his class is the one that is dragging me down. Our most recent test, the average class grade was failing. It's my belief that if the entire class is failing, it is not the fault of the student, but the professor

The first day of class, he advised everyone to drop the class because it's difficult. After the first exam, I looked at Canvas and the class average for the exam was failing, and there was no curve. There were no guidelines for the project and he said mine was not correct format when no guidance was given. He also complains about his reviews here.

Dr. Cole is hands down one of the top (if not the top) political science professor at Longwood. He is hard, and the course work can be even harder but if you pay attention in class, take very good notes, and make time to meet & talk to him, you will be successful. I can undoubtedly say that he made me a better student. 10/10 HIGHLY Recommend

Dr Cole is without a doubt one of the best professors I've had. That being said, you will have to work for it. H e is a tough grader, but he gives you the skills you need to succeed against difficult odds. Pay attention to everything he says and take good notes because he grades using keyterms. He is difficult, but it was definitely worth it.

You will learn a lot from his POSC 100 class, however, there are few grades (like 5 total for the whole semester) 2 books to read and analyze, he is a TOUGH grader, and you will get called on to answer a question of some sort at least 2-3 times just in one lecture... Participation matters and he calls on everyone. It was still a good glass though.

He is really tough grader. For the course you need at least 4 books because you will have to write 3 book reviews. 3 exams on a paper. lectures are so hard and his power point are not detailed , so you better pay attention every minute, speaks so fast. Exams most about the lectures, no phones or sleeping. really hard to get at least C

Reading and studying more than you think you should will absolutely help you in the long run. He has flexibility in office hours and is willing to help you understand the topic and try to explain why your grade is the way it is.

Dr. Cole is a professor who knows what he is talking about. His power points are not super detailed so be sure to tale super detailed notes on everything he says and read all the articles assigned in the book! As long as you can do this you might have a good chance of passing the class with a reasonable grade. Overall great professor

I appreciated my class with Dr Cole SO MUCH. I have never had a class at Longwood that actually challenged me, and yeah it was tough but it was worth it. If youre a slacker you will not do well, but if youre willing to put in the effort he will help you succeed. Ive never learned so much in a class

I had trouble keeping up in this class at first, but once I got used to his grading style I started to get better grades. There are only a few grades, so it's important to study. Dr. Cole is VERY DETAIL ORIENTATED. It's the only thing he looks for when he grades things. Once you've figured out how to study for this class, it's not too bad.

Dr. Cole is suer awesome!! He is really a great professor but you have to put in the work. Make sure you stay on top of the readings and there are writing exams but as long, as you know the material then your golden. Fairly easy class but barely made it by with a B

I loved Dr Cole! This was class was also pretty easy. Definitely do all of the readings and come to class every day. There are only 5 assignments: 2 book reviews, a debate (group project), a midterm, and a final.

Dr. Cole is an awesome professor, this is my second time taking him and I really appreciate his style of teaching. There's lots of readings and you have to do them because there's a reading specific place on the tests, but nothing crazy. Go to class and you'll be fine.

Dr. Cole can be hard to warm up to but he's not a bad guy- he really cares about the subject and you can tell. You can tell he's liberal but I wouldn't say he was biased. Traditional 50 pt midterm and 50 pt exam and two 4-page book reviews. Pretty easy.

This was my favorite teacher last semester by far. Although the book reports were a pain, his lectures were clear and made sense. I've never liked history/political science but I was really interested in the material and he made class fun. You only take a midterm & final and they are both written and he gives extra credit at the end of the semester

Dr. Cole is amazing and his class was so interesting. He loves teaching the material which reflects in his lectures. Make sure to take detailed notes and read about 60% of the articles and you'll do fine! He knows so much about the subject and is so helpful to make sure everyone understands it as well! Totally worth taking his class.

Scott Cole is the best... He really loves teaching this stuff and you can tell... He gets soooo excited when people ask questions... I don't find him to be particualrly hard, but then again I'm a poli sci major and I still get B's and C's on his tests.

Had him for posc 150 and 255. He is great...pretty easy. Knows what he is talking about. Some people said he seemed to have a liberal bias... but that didn't really bother me, it'd be near impossible to teach these classes without letting a small bias out. You can get by without reading every night, I just skimmed the books before tests.
