I take back the second last comment. I don't know that she doesn't like me for being Catholic, and it probably isn't the case. Either way, it was wrong for me to have said it. It's just that I've had terrible experiences with feminist teachers in the past. I'm sorry :(

She's the absolute BEST professor ever. I know that she can be a little .. umm... "hormonal" at times, but deep down inside she really cares. Granted that she only cares for women, but hey, that's still a step up from some of the other profs that walk around our blessed university.

Didn't like or learn much in this class. Expectations weren't explained... Wierd theories on allowing kids to learn on their own without marking them. If I'd have been in her elementary school classes where she didn't assign work and just let the kids read, I'd have done absolutely nothing.

Scattered, never knew which persona she was going to be. Ripped you apart one day and loved you the next. Seemed too busy with 2 Depts. Rarely seemed to be prepared, ran off to copy things mid class. Seemed important who she knew! If she loved you you were golden. Political ~ but then Education is political.

A hard core feminist, who uses her class as a platform to bring about social change for women. She never taught a class. The students, via presentations, taught & led discussion on course readings. Very little academia was presented by her. I want my money back!!

I don't believe it's possible to say enough in praise of this woman. Her class was an absolute joy to be in each week -- she was personable, outgoing, ethusiastic about the material and very open-minded. I would take a WISE class just so that I could have her again as a prof.

I admire Sharon's determination to get it through young ignorant students' heads that feminism is not about male-bashing. Apparently not an easy task to accomplish, as some of these postings indicate. But that's their loss, not Sharon's failing.

Prof Abbey is far too feminist. She needs to move out of the 1950's & realize that sexism is becoming a thing of the past in Canadian society. Needs to focus on overall sexual equality as opposed to pure "man-hating" feminism!
