Very good professor! His lectures are entertaining and the material is very interesting. That being said this is not an easy A class and would only take it if you have a decent background in biology and/or very interested in the subject matter. Make sure to go to class and take good notes, otherwise I can't imagine doing well in the class.

This class is one of the most interesting I have ever taken. Dr Otto makes difficult material fun and interesting. I have zero science background and barely any psych classes and I had no difficulty understanding. I went to every lecture, took good notes, and studied. It's definitely doable and worth it if you're willing to put in some effort!

Dr. Otto is an inspiring lecturer. This class is NOT an easy A. I did manage an A despite only taking average level bio 4 years ago (high school) and AP psych. You have to show up to class though. PowerPoints are very vague, and the textbook is barely a help. But it is an amazing class. Only three exams, that's your grade. Fully recommend, however.

Your grade in the class is solely based on three tests. I would NOT recommend taking him or this class unless you took and did really well in biology and general psychology. Despite what people say, you need a background to do well in this class. He isn't helpful during office hours and makes you feel stupid. This class is interesting but mad hard.

Dr. Otto is an AMAZING professor, he truly makes you want to learn and gets you interested in things you never really considered before. The exams are based on his lectures so you really can't miss class if you want to do well - they're not easy but definitely doable if you put in the work. I highly recommend this class!

Otto is a pretty cool dude. His lectures are extremely interesting and engaging even though the material is tough. This is NOT an easy A class (unless maybe you're a bio major). Exams are very indepth and based off of what he teaches in class. You have to go to lecture since half of his PP slides are pictures. No extra credit, just 3 exams.

What I remember most about this course was its healthy dose of science. Its definitely one of the harder psych courses but very interesting . He is hilarious and uses great examples. He expects you to work so take notes, read, etc. He is much nicer than he seems at first and is willing to help. That said he helps those that help themselves. Attend.

If you're going to skip this class there's no reason to take it in the first place; Professor Otto is amazing at teaching Physio and you won't want to skip if you're committed to doing well. A very interesting approach to psych but it is pretty biologically intensive. I managed to pull off an A by the skin of my teeth and I never took bio before.

It's been 6 years since I graduated from RU and Dr. Otto is one of the few Profs I had that remains one of my favorites. Is his class tough? Absolutely. Is he tough? No way! Don't let the seemingly cold nature he gives off during his lectures deter you from striking up a conversation with him, he's brilliant, funny, and an all around nice guy

Dr. Otto teaches an amazing class! Took Physio freshman year and it was challenging, but course is loaded with a lot of interesting stuff. I wouldn't recommend to someone with no interest in science as this course is heavily based on the science aspect of psych. Basically equivalent to a more specific version of the last month of Bio 2.

Great lecturer, very organized. The material is a bit hard, but he makes it easy. If you go to class, pay full attention, and take good notes, then you won't need to read the textbook. There's a lot of biology in the beginning, but he explains it all so well so don't worry. It's a very good class where you'll learn a lot of neurobiology.

Best professor I've had at Rutgers. Terrific lecturer, you can tell he's passionate about the material, and is more than willing to help you understand the content. Class is fascinating. Yes, you gotta take diligent notes and study for his exams, but you learn so much and it's a rewarding experience. Wish he taught more classes.

Dr. Otto is an amazing professor. He loves what he teaches and it shows in his lectures. He knows his stuff, he's excited to teach it and his lectures are never dry or boring. The subject matter is not the easiest but he does a really good job of explaining it at a level that makes it easier to understand. Loved learning from him.

(Physio Psych) Went to every single class except one, took clear notes, paid attention, and read the book... apparently not well enough. Put a lot of effort in and came out with a D. Only D I've ever received. Only grades are 4 tests--if you struggle at first, just drop the class. TRUST ME. It's very hard if you're not super science-savvy.

It seems like he covers everything in class but when it's exam time , it's nothing like what he explained in class. Exams are extremely complicated and i would not recommend this class to anyone who is not super good in science. if this class is not mandatory do not take it!

If you take notes on his power point slides during class and really know them, you'll do well. He recommends reading the textbook, but I only used it for concepts I had a harder time grasping during lecture. He's passionate about the subject. Good prof.

Course outline:2 exams (50pts each) and a final(worth 70pts). The curve: Whatever the highest avg is. (ex. total pts 170, our class high avg 168). He offers a review before exams (you ask Qs and he pulls up the slide) I probably missed 3-4 lectures and did terrible on the exams because he doesn't give you any prep. TAKE ANOTHER CLASS/PROF.

I took this class thinking it would be an easy A. I was wrong. Although i ended up with a B, i had to go to every lecture and read the book. However, i really enjoyed this class because of Otto. The material was very interesting and the professor really knew his stuff.

Not an impossible class but would not recommend. You MUST know every single, little detail of the lecture notes because exams are VERY tricky. Be EXTREMELY careful and read every word of every choice. And for the record, there's barely a curve. Also, if you approach this guy with an issue, be ready for ultimate rudeness. Avoid if possible.

Professor Otto is without a doubt the best professor I've had at Rutgers. He took material that could have been dry and made it really engaging and interesting. Would have been a difficult class, but he is so clear and helpful that, for me, it was an easy A. Definitely take a class with him- I regret not taking him sooner.
