Comment:
I didn't like the class so much, but Hammond is quite a character. He can be a fun teacher, but the material he is teaching is straight up boring. You have notecards due almost everyday from the readings, but other than that the class isn't that hard. Be prepared to squint at his hand-writing and try not to fall asleep.

DON'T TAKE HIM You can tell that he is a very intelligent man and knows a lot about what he is teaching, however, he seems to have a difficult time getting the information out.Every other word out of his mouth is umm and he says it at least 20 times in a row. Also his handwriting is impossible to read, and you have notecards due almost every class.

I hated this professor and this class. I was supposed to be literature of ancients hebrews, greeks and romans and somehow he managed to turn the class towards the role of women in society. essay ?s were so bad, and he has you turn in cards every class. it's not a hard class, just a frustrating one

He just talks at you and says "umm" a lot while smacking the whiteboard with his hand. His handwriting is abysmal and you'll probably have to go to his office hours just to figure out what the heck the comments he wrote are. I guess he's alright, but I really didn't like him. He talks so much and then asks you a question, but you're already asleep.

Comment:
Very enthusiastic, and interesting. He is often late to class, and is very absent-minded. He is funny to watch, very quirky. He spends class waving his hands, and calling young men in books and movies "hunky." Overall, a very good prefessor.

Unorganized English prof. Assigned a major project within the last four weeks of class. Group editing was a waste of time. Graded a major paper two months after turned in, and right before he was supposed to turn them back. He know's his stuff, but CAN NOT TEACH IT.

While it's obvious that he knows his stuff, he's NOT cut out for the lower level classes. He IS absent-minded and constantly forgets things. We have yet to receive back assignments and still have no idea how he grades. Don't take him for any class below the 300 level.

He may be the living embodiment of the absent-minded English professor, but he's also brilliant and passionate about his subject. He's incredibly supportive of students and always manages to bring out the best in a given class.

The only prof I've ever seen who can make Poe a babe magnet. Aside from a prof I had at UCLA.
